I should have checked out the theater before I sat down in the main dining area (looked cool). Very casual place and hippie friendly. Food was OK. Nachos were very tasty but lacked size. Pizza, to my surprise, was not all that. A bit disappointing really. The beer was good but they made me buy one of their crappy growlers with a screw top lid to get beer to go. To bad for them, as I had intended to fill the growlers in my car with various beer and bring them back to Ohio & Alabama to share. All and all I would return (as the beer is good), but I am less excited about the place now that I’ve been there. Service was quick but not that friendly.
This place is really unique for the area. Cheap movies playing, brewery, free board games and NES, tasty pizza, and really weird decor. I haven’t had anything remarkably great from here, but I haven’t yet had their stout. I like the ambiance well enough, at least for a change of pace, and the prices are quite fair for the brews.

without trying to be too un-P.C. I’m gonna go out on a limb and steretype the right person to enjoy this place. I was with some conservative and they hated it. if your moderate to liberal you’ll love it. its sort of hippy-ish along with the general feel of asheville. lots of funky colors and murals and artwork all over the place. it feels a bit disorganized and disorienting with all the decor but its an inviting maze of chaos. waiters are young and knowledgeable but kind of laxidasical. (I was a waitress so I can say this). it took forever for someone to give us a menu, get our drinks, get our food and the waiter/waitress (we seemed to have been served by three different people throughout the night) completely disappeared when we needed our check and were trying to get out of there. some of the pizzas in my group were awesome, the others were only o.k. so it seems to be hit or miss. there are lots of diff. kinds of pizzas but you must go there for pizza. if you aren’t in a rush and there to stay and have some beers/drinks then you’ll probably enjoy the mish-mosh of people and colors that the atmosphere invites. otherwise, you might want to pick somewhere faster, cleaner and more sane.

Not only is this place a brew-pub, and a pizza bakery, it is also a converted movie theater. Excellent murals adorn the walls inside and out. The furniture and pool tables are a little grungy, but this only adds to the atmosphere. The in-house brews are excellent for the price. Plus you can see second-run movies on a big screen for $2 while you eat and drink. When they’re not showing movies on the big screen there’s usually sports, or cartoons. You really can’t beat this place for overall entertainment value. If you’re in Asheville you MUST visit t his place.
It can get pretty noisy, but that just adds to the appeal. We’ve only been there for lunch, once when it was quiet and once when it was packed. Both times, the pizza/salad buffet was excellence and cheap too! It doesn’t look like much on the outside or inside, but don’t pass it by.

Good pizza and nice beer selection. The lunch buffet is an especially good deal!
