Their basement on Thursday nights is my new favorite place in Ann Arbor.
Not only can I sip my favorite Pale Ale, but whilst listening to LIVE dubstep :D Truly amazing place!

Great selection, food has some good choices, and has improved lately and added to typical bar food choices. Go between May and September so you can get seats. Service is decent, a really good watering hole in Ann Arbor.

It’s always great to get a chance to go to Ashley’s. Most important is the great selection. Not just the wide selection, but the quality of the selection is amazing. Some of the top beers in each category. Additionally, their menu is quite helpful, especially for new beer drinkers who can read style descriptions and use their flavor intensity ratings to figure out their orders. The waitstaff seems generally knowledgeable about the beers, though there has been a bit of confusion when asked about the rotating taps. Can get kind of crowded at times, but I’ve always been able to get a table quickly by arriving early enough. Food is quite good for what it is, which is standard bar food. I really enjoyed their BBQ chicken pizza. My favorite place to be in Ann Arbor.
I had an absolute blast the other night. I’m not sure if there was a private party going on or what - but the entire bar was alive and singing classic songs from the jukebox all night. It was strange to see grown men and women as well as the college kids doing that - but hey. Most important - the BEER! They have 70 freekin draughts on tap! Awesome selection in draught AND bottle! Overall - I was very impressed and plan on going back real soon.
This place is simply awesome. Dark, wooden theme with brick wall on one side. I recognized it immediately after walking in that it was the bar I remembered from my only previous visit to Ann Arbor, 12 years earlier in 1993. It was memorable to me then and it is memorable to me now. Astonishing selection of 60 taps, plus a ton of quality bottles. The taps are not your standard Bud, Guinness fare. These are harder to find gems like Dogfish Head 90 minute, Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA, Bells Oberon, Dragonmead Final Absolution, Founders Dirty Bastard, New Holland Mad Hatter IPA, and Unibroue Ephemere. Upstairs there are 3 TVs and a top of the line jukebox. The downstairs "Underground" has a cool mural and theme of the London Underground. You feel like you are in a subway station. The only detraction I could find was the lack of an outdoor patio. This is simply a must stop when in Ann Arbor.
As a student in Ann Arbor, this was my home away home. They have a unreal selection of premium brews on tap. Rare micros, to Belgians, and imports, ALL on TAP (72 total) ! They also have brewing events about once a month, reps from the major micros come in with rare kegs (90 Min from DogFish Head - HopSlam and Expedition Stout from Bell’s - Anny Ales from Stone). I graduated two months ago and miss Ashley’s Bar. Gotta stop by and check this place out. The pesto fries are worth a try.
Why in gods name is this place not closer to where I live. Granted their selection was helped out in a big way by the KRE release party going on that night, but still, great beers on tap. And a whole ton of them to boot. My server was knowledgable, a little slow at first, but once the guy got caught up, things went great. I will definitely go back given the opportunity.
