Overall, very impressive. The selection in the basement blows. I didn’t have any experience with the food. But, any place that hasthe selection they do on tap is awesome. I nearly lost control (but kept my composure). Some random beer drinker bought us our first round. Awesome!
Visited in August 2005. Impressive selection of choices, ranging from belgians to stouts and most every other style. Lots of local stuff on tap. It was not busy when I was there - however since it is next to campus, it probably is packed with college students most nights. I’m looking forward to visiting this place again next time I go through Ann Arbor.
Small intimate pub with predominately college crowd. Beer selection is very good and fresh. The rotate the beers quite well and have a good selection of regional micros. I had a Bells Two hearted on cask. Yum. The one time I ate here, the pub grub was very good. Bar is very small, so try to hit this place on a slow night. One of my favorite (non-brewpub) beer joints in the country. Give it a try.
Great place to stop if in ann arbor, but dont go out of your way. Decent pub food, 70 drafts with 8 rotating local drafts. Fairly large selection of locals and standard national and international brews
College eatery/watering hole atmosphere can be quite loud in the evening. Service friendly, unobtrusive and efficient. Selection contained quite a number of local MI beers as well as some of the more common regional/national micros. Food was of decent quality though prices seemed a bit high. A decent place to stop for a few local ratings and a bite to eat if planning a trip to the area.
Generic modern-looking ambiance, not unpleasant anyway. Wide selection, menu kept up to date, many taps and bottles for every taste and kind. Packed place, lots of students, rather loud crowd, but the good side is that all the beers were fresh. Pub food. Mostly efficient service condidering the crowd, plenty of Michigan beers, nice little samplers of draught offerings offered in packs. I didn’t expect much and was quite satisfied.
Typical large, loud yet slightly upscale college atmosphere...reminiscent of Boston’s Sunset Grill on a bigger stage. Tap and bottle selection focuses heavily on Michigan stuff, most of the other stuff will be familiar to the hardcore beer geek, though it is mostly drinkable beer. Service very quick and efficient, food (we just had some apps) was all right. Prices seemed a bit high to me, but I confess I don’t know the Ann Arbor scene that well. Definitely a worthwhile stop in this hot little beer scene.
Great place for beet and food. With over 50 beers on tap, and 4 rotating beers on cask they have one of the best tap selections around. On top of that they have lots of bottle as well. Good food, great appetizers. Beer menu offers tons of insights into the beers themselves and into beer drinking overall. Must visit when in Ann Arbor, reasonably priced, for the most part, you will pay for the rarer stuff.
This might very well be my favorite bar ever. Service is excellent: friendly, knowledgeable. The interior is great with a super juke-box, great wood on the walls, nice booths. It’s in the middle of the perfect town for wandering around. The beer is fantastic, well taken care of. My only very minor complaint is that smoking is still allowed in Michigan bars, which can get a bit gross, and I’ve heard the parking can be problematic, though I found a spot right away. My favorite part of this bar was that I could get Bell’s Two Hearted on Tap all night long. (Being from the East Coast, this is a very big deal). Awesome, awesome place. A MUST visit.
So far my home choice for sipping a Dogfish 90. Never had bad service, employees actually have knowladge of beer. Beer always is fresh, lines are properly taken care of. Come here weekly and try something new
