Through the ancient stone arch. Down the alley. Through the ancient entrance. Enter into wood, copper, stained glass, and a wholly local experience. Short beer list. BUT! The list includes Westvleteren 12 for 10 EURO. With the possible exception of Toon, there is no more ancient venue for hiding away with a great beer. Didn’t see a cat though. So Toon is more cool in that way.
Si tienes suerte puedes encontrar una Westvleteren en este precioso local escondido en una callejuela de Bruselas.

Great typical Belgium taverne style with a great atmosphere, I went there twice durring the x-mas holidays and it was always packed. Good selection of beers and to my supprise they had the Westverleteren 12 on the menu (10 Euros...oops), but they did not serve it in its glass, but never mind it was still excelent. I will go again.
I love this place - no trip to Brussels is complete without a trip here. The selection of beers aren’t stellar but they have many of the essentials - and rotate the selection so you can get Christmas brews at that time of year, so it’s not too bad. The prices are pretty average. The atmosphere is absolutely great, though, which is why I go there time after time.
Very cool, hard to find regulars bar in Brussels. Old school interior with an impressive old wood bar, though very smoky. Only food available when we were there was bagged chips, so plan on eating elsewhere.
If you’re looking for something off the beaten path and not besieged by tourists, this is your venue.

This was one of three alleyway pubs the other being Becasse and the other a few doors along I forget the name of; however alll three are cracking little places and on a cold, miserable, wet, windy, snowy day like it was when visited on Saturday 17th December 2011, all of them were just about the best and most atmospheric places that we went to in Brussels this weekend. On another day, say in summer a place like this or the other two may not hold the same attraction but hey-ho we visited in Winter and it is the only time I’ve been in here, though Loz tells me that I’d been here before though it was a fleeting visit. I had an Orval Loz a Kasteel Bruin, the place was busy, warm and buzzing with chatter. The surroundings were full of olde world charm, the service was excellent and it just came across as a cracking little place to visit that is right in the heart of the action but also off of the radar of most visitors. Once again the ’Around Brussels in 80 Beers’ proved very helpful and was remarked on by a fellow countryman and his entourage, who spoke of how helpful it had been to them on their visit and how much they loved the book.

Nice decoration in this place, like a really old house. A grumpy couple serving at the bar. I saw they have a good selection but I only had Westvetleren 12 there, oh yeah. Kind of quiet with some locals old folks. Definitely worth the visit.
