Really glad that we stopped here, across the street from Saint Michael’s church, a famous church that Ludwig II was wrapped up in. The bierhalle and restaurant is huge, going on for about half a mile, but partially divided into several seating choices to make it feel more like a restaurant. Had their hefe and dunkel on tap, which were both phenominal, in addition to the soft pretzels that were on the table. The service was responsive and friendly, and I was very happy to have made the stop.
We came here on 28.1.2017. Large, traditional beer hall, existing since 1829 and located in the center of Munich. Good ambiance, typical Augustiner - dark wooden panels on the walls, a few slightly different furnitured rooms and an open kitchen (they cook Kaiserschmarren at the right rear end, looks great). I had the Curry Wurst instead, which was very tasteful. It is touristic for sure, but has not lost it’s historic soul, as many other places in Munich did. On tap they have Helles, Edelstoff and Dunkel. Pils and Weißbier in the bottle available. Needless to mention the beer (we had Edelstoff) was great. Service was above Munich average. For sure one of the must visit Augustiner places. Top 5 in the city center for me are: Augustiner Keller, Braustuben, Bierhalle, am Platzl and Isarthor. We came back in July 2017 and were sitting in the inner yard at the very end of the restaurant, really a unique beer garden and worthwhile to visit.
Large Bier Halle, with a large terrace in Neuhauser Strasse. Inside is typical classical german beerplace, lots of wood, large tables, high ceilings, several separated areas. Ok service and pretty good beers.
Visited on 19th April 2014.
Large beer hall between the Hbf and the Town Hall in the centre of Munich. It’s a lovely old building, loads of traditional features oozing history. Lots of wood.
Beer wise it has a decent range from Augustiner, beer quality is excellent, prices are steep.
Service was OK.
A good spot to visit as a start to the beer halls of Munich
The advantage of this place is the fact that it is close to the main station. I went there several times. The service is regular, not personal, but they make efficiently their job. The food is ok and right portion. The place is what you could expect of a traditional brewery, a lot of wood and traditions. The Augustiner beer is the heart of the Munich beer culture and I love the pils from this brewery.
Very nice and big Bierhaus, traditional and in the center of Munich with good prices. Selection got a 7, it has onlyAugustiner as you can guess. You can buy also glassware (but try the Augustiner Braustuben. it’s cheaper). Service was nice but little indifferent.
