Visited on an early Friday evening in February 2018. A typical industrial park brewery with a decent selection and a nice service. Not that crowded during the visit.

In an Industrial Park building, this would be very hard to miss. It is at the rear of the building, no signs other than a small one on the door. As you walk in the brewery is on one side with a big cooler in the middle. A big wooden bar surrounding the cooler. They have a small cooler with a few beers to go.

Barrel Harbor reminds me of so many other San Diego County industrial park breweries, this one choosing a nautical theme (similar to Helms). This one actually looks like the same footprint as Oceanside Aleworks with the bar on the opposite side. Otherwise, it is a nearly identical setup. The beers are average to a little below and they were out of at least two from their core lineup.

Really neat place. Tanks equipment off to side good selection of brews along with some of their specialty brews. Tall guy bartender was real knowledgable and quick to serve. Defiantly worth a stop in between you hop to iron rist and booze bros.

> Crowded but forgettable lower quality beer tasting room

>> Sort of pirate themed, interior is similar to 90% of breweries I’ve visited so if pretty forgettable. Staff was friendly, people there were lively and having fun, symbiotic food truck was a big bonus and he was serving up some seriously good BBQ that we all woofed down. Lots of house beers on tap, 10-12, plus some casks or I guess nitro. Quality though was below par with some beers okay and some that were not very good. Overall, I cannot really recommend this place.

Personally, I’m not sure I went to the same place the first two people went to. At any rate, I really liked this place. The service was quick and friendly. Beers were really nice. Loved the Pilsner and the dry stout on nitro was off the hook. Of the 80 something breweries in town, I have now been to 54 of them. This is high on the list. While the beer was good, the excellent service was the high point.

Visited here on a Thursday evening and it was pretty busy. Good variety of beers on tap but the price on taster pours is a bit higher than other breweries I have visited in the area. Can’t comment on the overall quality of their beers as I onlynhad the capaccity for one. The beer I tried, a black IPA, was not bad. Service was a little slow but not terrible. There is a very obvious nautical theme at this brewery, which I guess is OK. Worth a visit if you are touring around Vista. Very close to Booze Brothers - about a 10-minute walk, in fact.

The crowd of belligerent drunk 20-somethings in costumes should have been sign enough, but we proceeded inside anyway. A bit nicer than your typical warehouse brewery in that they actually have an abundance of seating and a large chalkboard with all the beers on it. They had 9 beers in total for us to try. The service was very quick and helpful, but the beers were just...awful. Most were overly sweet or had some very obvious off flavors. Probably wouldn’t bother to come back.

Visited November 2, 2013.

Another warehouse brewery. Number 198 (or so) of 200 (or so) in California already. After seeing that they had a gotlandsdricka and a framboise on tap it was decided that we had to go there. The gotlandsdricka and the DIPA were sub par as was to be expected but some of the others weren’t terrible. I like the nautical theme; they should do a massive collaboration with all the other nautical-themed breweries in California: Ballast Point, Helms, Rip Current, Surf, Port, Mission, and several others I’m sure. The poor quality of the beer accentuated by the mass of people that were there for a birthday party and were all wasted drunk. It was funny but irritating at the same time. The upsides were the free pretzels and popcorn, a sahti/gotlandsdricka tick, and plenty of parking available. Pricing wasn’t too bad on flights. Didn’t have the inclination to order a pint or growler.

Not sure I’d come back here again unless they had a lot of new stuff to try, or the beer got better.
