Finally stopped by on the way home down the coast after the Monet Exhibit. Since it was a busy weekend, parking looked sketchy, but we scored a prime spot in the parking lot and managed to get a table in the bar without waiting. Wife had the IPA, I figured I’d try the sampler. I was well aware that the beer was average here at best, but I enjoyed the special Amber and the Stout, both above average. Had 3 appetizers, all good. Pricey, but location, location, location. The service was very good, and considering the flow of business, they do it well.
We stopped in for lunch while on holiday in 2012. It’s a nice place for a meal with coastal views and decent food but the beer was average at best. If you are in the area and feeling hungry and thirsty, why not check it out but probably not worth a visit for the beer alone.
We were at a campfire literally across the street, so I convinced the wife to stop in. We only hit the downstairs bar area, which was quite interesting, and basically open air. Not busy on a Saturday night, but I guess the restaurant is the main draw. Flights of beers for $13 and growlers to go for $25 including some cool looking glass. I thought the saison was pretty good.
Visited during SF beer week. Located within walking distance from my girlfriends aunts house where we were staying, so figured what the hell. Located on the beach, upstairs from a museum. Unfortunately we were there after dark, but I can imagine the view is pretty nice. Restaurant, slightly upscale feel with a bar on the back wall and behind that and behind glass was a brewhouse. Standard lineup of house beers…blonde, red, pale, ipa, black ipa and so forth. Got a sampler and wasn’t impressed by any of them, may had been 2 that I could handle even drinking a whole pint of. Full bar and didn’t order the food but it looked good and I also heard from a person or two during our stay that it is good. If in the area, sure. If thinking of going out of your way for this, I’d say pass.
Nice restaurant location right on the ocean, upstairs from the museum, and right on the edge of the park. The service was pretty poor at the bar, and the bartender acknowledged he was giving us crappy service, but continued on with it anyway. Beers were pretty bad for the most part, with only one really being enjoyable. We got some garlic fries which were very good, but the food was pretty pricey on the whole.
If you’re looking to have a nice dinner in the city, there’s plenty of better places and plenty of other places to get better beer.

This was the last stop of the night on a beer tasting trip a while ago. The place is a real nice high class joint right across the street from the ocean. We went on a saturday night and it was packed. All kinds of people in there but the whole vibe was just too ritzy and high end for me. I felt really out of place not wearing a $150 shirt. Good place to go for a nice dinner (minus the noise) but not necesarily for beer sampling.
The food was wonderful, just really expensive. I think we each paid something like $25 / plate. The beer was pretty average, the ipa was decent and the light beer was decent for what it was supposed to be. Didn’t like the octoberfest though. I think my brother pissed off the waitress and so she didn’t come back except to give us our check.
Went here with doublewesternbaconcheeseburgerscantsail. This time I went to the bar so that we could order a flight and no food. The service was pretty bad there too. We were ignored for a good 5 minutes even though there were only 2 other customers at the bar. When the guy finally acknowleged us he cut me off mid sentence to talk to a (apparently) stand up comic that he knew. After ignoring us some more he admitted that he was being a dbag (said "sorry, but he’s more entertaining than you guys") and then continued to ignore us. Pure garbage.
The sampler was listed on the menu as $10.64. Thought that was odd but thats actually what it was on the bill.
A nice big bar/restaurant above the Golden Gate park museum. Great views of the beach. Service at the bar was good. I had a bowl of clam chowder that was great. Can’t say the same for the beer. It was average to below average. The IPA was the best of the bunch but it definitely wasn’t a West Coast IPA. You don’t get much farther West than on the beach.
Finally made it out here. Out of the way unless you are in the Sunset district. There is a parking lot, but it was (for some reason) extremely crowded when I was there. The restaurant is picturesque as far as looking out over the ocean, and being tucked into the back of Golden Gate Park (I’ve driven past this place many times over the years). Food was pretty good; actually better than the beer (which was subpar). Very pricy as well. The clientele seemed to be there for the food and not the beer. The Lake Chalet in Oakland also offers a similar experience.
