This is the kind of place that hosts a massive bottle share in cooperation with Ratebeer, puts on tap an IPA challenge, and serves various Speedway Stout casks, for your enjoyment. There’s also very serious talent in the brewhouse. If only this place existed in Boulder and not Long Beach.
Absolutely fantastic place. Worth the hype. Food is great - really delicious. But the beer was even better. Everything was very good to great. They do samplers of all their things, and gave be tasters of several of their guest taps. Several of the brewers were at the bar next to me and we had a great conversation about beer. All around it was a wonderful experience, and did I say, the beer was fantastic? Great place, absolutely worth the visit.
Bad place for GPS. Spent a couple hours in LA traffic going the wrong direction and circling a nonexistent location. Just target the center of Long Beach and follow street numbers. Cool place with a nice patio. Very fruity tasty lamb burger. Tasty beers and good service. Told the waitress I did not fight with the GPS for two hours to drink the guest tap but it looked good for regulars.
Enjoyed the patio on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Attentive, friendly service that went above and beyond. Big selection with lots of diversity. House beers were good stuff. Nice guest taps. BBQ was excellent. Good prices. A standout visit.
Sat outside on a cool evening (but a cool 60 degrees in SD beats the 20 degrees back home). Decent amount on tap with average to above average beers. A few bottles of their own available. I thought the pulled pork was good - and their home made chips was great!
Visited a a few times a few years ago while in Long beach area. Nice location, great ambiance, great beer selection and good value for the location and selection. Mostly filled with Cali locals. Overall another great bar to visit in the California area.
(Visited 11/2014): Beachwood’s Long Beach location is on East 3rd off Long Beach Blvd. Street parking is available in the surrounding blocks.
Outside is a patio surrounded by foliage. Inside, the brewpub opens to a seating area on the left and the wooden bar on the right. Hanging globe lights above the bar, and green-tinted placards with the available beers along with a single TV.
Beachwood has over 30 beers on tap, including around 10 of their own. On my visit this included El Verano Saison, Glenlongbeach Scottish, Alpha Galactic APA, Citraholic, Denver Jackhammer and Oatmonster. Sampler flights are available, and the beers I tried were all solid. Guest taps from the likes of Russian River, Bruery and Bear Republic among others. Several dozen bottles from breweries like Firestone Walker, Logsdon, Lost Abbey and FiftyFifty long with lots of imports. A couple Beachwood bottled beers like Citraholic and Sadie available as well.
Service on a Sunday evening at the bar was good. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the beers and attentive throughout the visit.
We did not have any food on the visit.
Overall this is a great brewpub situated on the boardwalk in Long Beach.
