I assume this is what now is called "J.D. Wetherspoon’s Bar & Restaurant" - at least it was the only JDW I found before security. Very busy when I was there. One new cask tick for me. Most people seem to eat there, I did not.
Quite a small selection of casks/taps, usual spoons food etc. This JDW at Gatwick is in situ before security so I hardly ever go here, always prefer to arrive early and clear security to get to the Flying Horse JDW inside. But for those maybe meeting arrivals can be a place to meet/kill some time.
Visited on a Friday evening in August 2015. Popular place. Checked out the handpull situation and on London Pride, Doom Bar and Broadside on so headed toward the Windsor n Eton Republika. Service was pretty quick. Prices are typical for an airport (Dick Turpin supplied the pricing strategy). It’s OK for a Spoons but not great. Airport wise it’s a place to kill time
The Beehive is OK as an airport bar. It’s tucked away in a corner before security and, like most airport places, it’s pricier than the average high street Wetherspoons. It has six hand pumps and had three cask beers on tap when we visited - Sharp’s Doom Bar, Fuller’s London Pride and Exmoor Gold. A plus was that they also had cans from Sixpoint as well as a few decent bottles.

Hard to avoid this one. But if you are very thirsty before going into a security check. You can relax with a beer here.

Located on the upper deck of the South Terminal concourse where the security entrance for departures is located. This is darkly lit atmospheric Wetherspoon broken by the obligatory electronic departures board so that you don’t drink yourself silly even before you’ve managed to leave the country. It has a slightly alternative selection of lager, meaning there are a couple of extra foreign beers to suit all nationalities passing through the airport. There’s three ale pumps too. It also has its own menu. Prices are much higher than most Wetherspoon pubs but this is to be expected. There’s no Wifi here from the chain as it’s located in the airport who want to charge you for it.
