Visited on 25 July 2015. A spacious place with a nice interior. There were five beers on the menu (Bruna Nefiltrată, Blonda Nefiltrată, Blondă din Grâu Nefiltrată, BH Blonda Filtrată, and BH Extra - can’t remember if it was filtered or unfiltered), although two of them weren’t in stock. Beers were all decent, if not expensive by local standards. When I was there the place was almost empty except for a few patrons. Service was very good and the food was tasty. On an unrelated note there is a very beautiful monastery down the road from here.
flying visit, arrived at 11 only to be told they didn’t open ’til 12 - however on telling them we’d come from England to try the beers and were on the train to Ukraine at 11.40 they relented and let us have some beer. the beers were ok, though by far the best we had in Moldova. Bloody expensive by local standards, especially when we were told the prices didn’t include service so we paid even more than it said in menu! suppose they earned it opening early for us...
Definitely worth a visit as this is the only brewpub in Chișinău. It is Positioned more as a restaurant than a drinking place and you can see this in their prices and the cars parked around the place. Their blond, amber and dark brews, which might be filtered or unfiltered are quite solid brews, though have that landbier/kellerbier character, typical for small brewpub/breweries in the region.
This Brewpub was almost empty @ 18 o´clock weekdays, but it sells 4 housebrewed beers which are ok, but the prices are really expensive if you see the prices in other Pubs. The service and the location was ok.
Yes, there is a brewpub in Moldova! And it has a non-smoking section. :-D the place was almost empty on a Monday night in winter, but that meant I had my own personal waiter, which suited me fine. The four beers available were all very solid, and at a little over two bucks for 25 cl they were pricey by Moldovan standards, but cheap compared to the US. The food was filling, but a bit plain, ranging from bar snacks to full meals. The waiter recommended the pork, beef or chicken, which narrowed it down to about 25 choices. By the way, they fill growlers, 300 lei ($20), or 200 for a refill. A must-visit while in Chisinau.
Place is great. Nice large shady patio, no bad music, great service. We sat outside but saw the Interior design was fun too with animal print bar stools. We even ordered food, which was far better than expected for beer snacks. And the beers were better than expected too, likely made from extract but decent and drinkable. Our first stop in Moldova, and a good welcome to the underdeveloped beer scene.
