What can you say about a place with 14 fast rotating taps and a bottle selection to die for. I have to get a beer just to roam the fridges to look for a beer! The owners are fabulous and location is very convienient to BART and Jack London Square. Ah, to sit on the patio sipping a Belgian in the correct glass and laze in the sun. Really, doesn’t get better....
I could not beleive that this was a beer store - so many taps that I lost count, plus endless bottles jam packed for SF beer week when we were there, for a Lost Abbey and Firestone Walker event. Great crowd, amazing vibe. Best beer store I have ever visited.
One of the best beer bars around. Amazing selection of beers on tap that are constantly changing. They have all the rare stuff you don’t see other places. Service is great, ask a question about beer and get an honest answer. Decent prices, from 5 to 10 dollars depending on the beer. They also have a few cooler doors for bottled beer that you can either drink there or take to go. Didn’t eat while I was there but they had a BBQ going that smelled great. Overall no one can match their selection of rare beers, this is my new Sunday spot.
Stopped by beer revolution on March 22nd for my friends birthday celebration. This wasn’t the first time I’ve been there, and after the great time we had on Sunday I’m for sure to be coming back over and over.
Sunday’s are a great day to go especially because they close at a reasonable time, forcing you to make it to work Monday morning hahah. It’s way too easy to get carried away there with the large selection of beer and great service to back it up. There’s even a fridge for bottled beer selections. Which makes me really happy because there’s usually a stock of Pliny the elder!
The main area is large and roomy enough to accommodate a large crowd and outdoor patio, which is pet friendly! Bathrooms are of the typical bar bathroom so always be wary, which no offense to anyone. I just feel that with drinking and restrooms always gets sketch hah.
Overall, my friend had a great celebration at beer revolution and the staff played a huge part in that. I’d like to really thank Rebecca for taking such great care of us and can’t wait to go back again!
Sometimes the guys are not so friendly, but this place is still legit. Fucking great selection, good prices, and awesome vibe. Death metal is playing 90% of the time. Seriously though get some lights in your drink fridge. WTF. Seating is cool and they let you bring in any outside food
One of the only bars where I always feel right at home. Amazing selection and prices (more for draft than for bottles), knowledgable, friendly, and patient staff, casual atmosphere. Love the big porch in front, as well as the fact that they’ll let you bring over food from the vegan soul food place next door.
Very cool craft beer store/bar with many lesser known breweries on tap and a bottle selection that leans toward California and Belgium. The atmosphere is kind of like a Saturday afternoon grill out and it’s a good place to enjoy craft beer when you’re not in the mood for a crowded and pretentious SF bar. The bartenders and owners are also very helpful. I’ll definitely try to return on a semi-regular basis.
I feel I need to counterbalance a previous review by wavers1. The bottles are indeed organized by country, region, and style. As far as the dimly lit experience - I have to admit, I moved to the east bay 2 years ago from the east coast and I find most bars’ lighting level equivalent to a dentist’s chair. Beer Rev is plenty bright. The only reason I docked them for ambiance is that I feel it is not high on their priority list, and I understand that. When there is a higher priced belgian bar that obviously spent tons on atmosphere a few blocks away, I can see why they saved money on decor in order to pass the savings on to us - the consumers. I for one am overjoyed that the owners have chosen to share their obsession with beer with the rest of us at a reasonable price.
A brilliant addition to the East Bay beer scene. Think of the City Beer model of bottle shop/beer bar, but with a much better bar and atmosphere, but just as many good bottles to choose from. Super chill vibe and lots of good beer decor. The owners are very welcoming and just love beer and want to share that passion. Just about the best bottle selection in the state, and a great rotation tap selection that had plenty of good rarities when I stopped in. The inside has a moderate amount of seating but isn’t large, but they have a nice front deck with tables and benches. There is a good punk/rock/metal soundtrack going on inside, and it did get pretty loud when full of patrons. I’ll give them a 10 for food because they have a sweet vegan soul food restaurant next door that will deliver you your food while you are at the bar. You just can’t beat that. Draught prices are quite good with plenty of good beers for 4 dollars, which is good for the area. If you have the opportunity, definitely check this place out. Add thjs to the Trappist, and Oakland has one of the best beer bar scenes in the region right now.
One of my favorite spots. There is a full wall of fridges filled with bottles that you can buy or drink on premises for a small fee. The chalkboard menu of on tap beers is extremely well selected and adventurous. Environment and music is very punk rock. Very fun place.
