Had been meaning to head down to Tampa to check out Joe and John’s store and finally got a chance to during a little Tampa beer trip. Unique little drive through place. Once you get through the doors they’ve got the shelves stocked! Climate controlled for perfect storage temperature. Always a plus. Found about a case of some stuff that I cant get in my Orlando store. Joe was a gracious host and seems to have done a subperb job turning this into a must stop for all beer lovers in this area. Way to go guys!
Please note I am employed by this store as of 06/09/07. My rating is before I had any affiliation with Beverage Castle.
Joe already has the best beer store in the Tampa area, and he hasn’t been open a week yet. Some beers here aren’t availabe anywhere else in the state that I have seen. He has tons of stuff coming in, so the selection will only get better. Nice setup, walk in, air conditioned, plenty of space and everything is easily accessible.
Cosidering the store is manned by Degarth and Quake1028, one would expect a world class selection. And damn, you got it. Bit of trek for me, but there were some beers available I can’t get locally yet. Service is awesome. Road trips to Tampa are probably in the forecast.
This Store is a beer lovers paradise! there are over 800 different kinds of beer. domestics, imports, and micro brews, not to mention a really good selection of mead and wine. the drive thru is just too cool but the store they call yetis cave is where the good stuff is. Fully climate controlled. the first time i walked in there i was in shock. since then this is the only place i will go for imports ande micro brews. there is a great selection of belgian beers including trappist ales that i couldnt find anywhere else. It is a real treat. the service is great too. very knolegable crew. and they even have a cigar shop. how cool is that!!
deffinately check it out
Stopped here when DeGarth was running the place and the selection was top notch.I was here before and there ws nothing to talk about.I hope, now that Degarth is gone they don’t go back to their old ways
First of all who wouldn’t like a drive thru beer store well this is one, but that just scratches the surface. The selection is jaw dropping to say the least. I found some Belgiums that I couldn’t even get in Belgium, then I moved on to the selections of micros and worked my way. Then onto English and almost every country imaginable. Since my fiancee is from Tampa this will be a main stay on my stops. I had to go because the service there helped her bring me some impressive beers last Christmas and the service continued to deliver. I just wish I had more bag space for my flight back to Germany.
Awesome selection, and the owners were kind enough to let us in a bit early. I must say, I was overwhelmed a bit so my purchases were kind of scattershot (how in the world did I end up with a Windhoek Lager and leave an Avery 13 on the shelves?), so I guess I’ll just have to go back next year...
Great place with Tons of great beer. This place has earned my devotion on several occasions but most recently they acknowledged that Im in the store a bunch and gave me some glasses for free.
In addition there are always happy to shoot the breeze and talk about beer or really anything going around. If it were closer I’d go to this place for everything.
Ignore the drive-thru, unless you’re in a hurry. The real magic is in the little shop next to the drive-thru. Easily my favorite destination in the Bay area for quality beer (and beer talk). RateBeer user Degarth is king of this castle and is always willing to help out or just shoot the breeze. The Belgian selection is the best in the area, and the English selection is rather large. And of course a large American micro feel; expect to find all of the mainstays from DFH, Rogue, Avery, etc. Prices aren’t always easily accessible, however, and while the prices aren’t any cheaper than Total Wine or the like, they’re more than reasonable. Highly recommend.
For pure selection, this place can’t be topped. Think of it like a small warehouse with an almost endless and overwhelming selection of bottles to choose from.
First time I was there, I didn’t even know where to begin, and it probably took me 30 minutes just to fill out a 6 pack!
