Visited after work on a Wednesday. Older store, older strip mall - place was called Remke Markets. Nice market, beer is located in back left corner. Highlight is the 12 beers on draft, available for 64 oz growlers to go - no onsite consumption available, though looked like they may do tasters. 6 tables to sit at. Extensive pick six selection available with a broad selection of Cincinnati beers. The beer is in coolers on tow sides of an aisle. I almost missed the second row of coolers.

70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.

based on the two dated reviews, I expected little. As it turns out, this place has more than little. I founds a limited BOY 4-pack section. 30-40 bombers (cold and chambered) and decent 6-pack selection. Would have left with two bombers, but I didn’t have enough. Not a dynamite place considering the other beer stores nearby, but good nonetheless for a Remke. There was a wine tasting going on (Friday night).

Located in a gigantic strip mall plaza, Bigg’s seems like a typical huge grocery store. But the beer selection is better. The first time here, I didn’t notice at the end of the beer aisle that there are some shelves of 12 and 22 oz. singles, and a lot of good stuff- locals, regionals, imports, and lots of west and east coast brewers. In the larger aisle, with 6, 12 and 24 packs, in addition to the usuals, you can find some of the regional brews, like Great Lakes, Moerlein, and Mt. Carmel. Some other more well-known microbreweries from around the country, like Dogfish Head, Goose Island, and Brooklyn. Prices are okay.

Bigg’s is a Cincinnati grocery store chain similar to Kroger. This location in the Oakley/Hyde Park area has the best beer selection of the 11 Bigg’s locations. As is to be expected, a large part of the selection is devoted to macros. But look for the micro-brews sign in the wine section, and you’ll find a surprisingly good variety of craft beers, many available as reasonably priced singles. Bells, Dogfish Head, Great Lakes, Mt. Carmel, Stone, and Victory are available along side common Belgian’s like Delirium and St. Bernardus. In the cooler there’s also a modest selection of seasonal beers. Freshness can be an issue, so check the dates when possible. This is one of the better grocery stores in the area, so if you find yourself shopping there, check out the beer for a one-stop shopping experience.
