This is a very good big store for beer selection and price. They’ll pretty much have most things that you are looking for at any given time. They might not have the rarest of the rare but if they don’t there is always plenty available. Prices rival most other store and they usually have sales on some of their beers. I will say that some of their beers are pretty high priced but those are usually the rare ones that even if you found somewhere else would be as high or higher. It is also much bigger and has a better selection than the downtown location.
They had beer. That made me happy. Jolly Pumpkin before it hit Texas, Pipeworks, and many others. Stuff like Three Floyds is hit or miss as the more sought out ones are snatched immediately and apparently hit maybe once a month.
Binny’s in Lakeview has everything that I have come to expect from the chain - solid craft beer selection, knowledgeable service, and reasonable prices.
The two things that used to prevent me from coming here more often are the lack of availability of limited releases and the parking. Since I work during the week, I can never make it there for the first come first serve weekday releases, which is when they normally get their shipments. Also, on the weekends trying to park here can be a nightmare.
Now that I live down the street though, the convenience combined with the selection and prices make this the beer store I visit most often. A big clean store with a large selection is always a good stop.
One of my favorite beer shops. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Whenever I’m in Chicago, Binny’s is always a destination so I can get stuff I can’t back home. It’s still so strange distribution varies so much between neighboring states, but it really does. Despite what some other raters have written, I found the staff very accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. My main complaint is they should offer more singles, and a build-your-own mix pack option. A worker told me that is coming soon, though. Highly recommended.
This location, like almost all Binny’s locations, has nearly everything available in the market. Their selection is massive. Also, like most Binny’s, it is nearly impossible to get much help at this store if you have any questions more than where something is on the shelf. If you get ahold of the right person, they will hold limited releases for you, but a lot of them hit the shelves as well.
One of the largest selection of beers I have ever seen and tend to get a decent amount of rare stuff in as well. Definitely has the feel of a liquor warehouse and the staff ranges from helpful to not helpful at all it is another great store in Chicago.
Large, clean, bright store. Usually when I go in somebody asks if I need any help. If I do, they usually seem to know what they’re talking about. This place is kind-of the go-to for the everyday beer/liquor/wine drinker in Chicago, and as such, gets picked over more quickly than all the other beer shops. If they’ve got something rare or interesting, don’t expect to see it on the shelves for long if it ever even makes it to the shelves. Great wine/liquor selection, artisan cheeses and glassware fill out this one-stop booze emporium.
