This place has an Italian type dining atmosphere. A little dark, with a large square bar one side separate from the dining area. Plenty of TV’s as well. Beer is well made, but don’t expect anything assertive, or very interesting. Good food. Neat wine "cellar" over to the side of the bar as well.
Nicely decorated restaurant but the noise level in the bar is barely tolerable. Service has always been fine in all of my visits there. Small selection of beer. 3 house made taps available during my last visit (first since the name change). Food is always very good but tends to be very expensive. They’ve made an effort to make it a little cheaper since the name change but still not cheap. I’d consider this a good spot to get dinner, moreso than a beer bar. Worth checking out at least once.
OK...so at the end of the day...this place has "really" good food. It’s actually a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde...great restaurant...passible brewpub. Let’s not forget that in warm weather the bar area is notoriously cold from setting the AC too high (been this way for years in spite of constant complaints...go figure)...forget gettting your women to enjoy a beer here. In any case...definitely a good craftbeer stop when in the area...always a good food stop (or try even better cuisine at their other place called Undici). Still far better than Artisans in Toms River (which used to be the "other" Basil T’s before there apparently was a parting of the ways).
Went during the day, so it wasn’t too crowded, with the square bar was mostly full. It seemed a little too dark inside, but maybe that was a result of just coming in from outside in the sun. Samplers are $9 for six 5 oz. pours. Service was average. Food smelled pretty good, but we didn’t eat.
Good food and decent beer. Comfortable atmosphere, although the band that was playing that night was pretty obnoxious. The service is good, but the prices are a bit steep. Worth checking out considering the dearth of brewpubs and beer bars in the area.
The outside is not that stunning, but the inside felt warm and inviting. Lots of dark wood and I liked the deli case with all the meats and cheese hanging overhead. They had a nice square bar which is perfect for conversation. The service was ok. I don’t like going to places where they don’t write out what’s on the sampler. I like to know what I’m drinking as I’m drinking it. None of the beers really did much for me. The pizza, on the other hand, was fantastic. It was apportioned with lots of real toppings and the crust was crunch enough to support it. The prices are what you’d expect for the area. Overall it’s a nice place to have a meal, wouldn’t go out of my way to just drink their beer.
Nice looking place, almost reminds me of a cigar bar. Proudly displayed brewing equipment, always a plus. Friendly bartenders, quick service. Music was terrible, totally killed the mood. The beer was honestly mediocre at best, and only six to choose from. OK place, but definitely not rushing to go back again!
A great building that looks like nothing from the outside, but displays charm and confidence once inside. Lots of fresh products, vegetables and fancy Europeans meats decorate the multi-roomed establishment with a disctinct character depending on where you sit. Excellent service, highly friendly and professional. Fine food of high quality, but on the expensive side, expect to pay at least 20$ for a complete meal, but while it was at lunch time, I have not eaten until 1am afterwards. The beer selection is nothing really out of the ordinary and entirely depends on whether you go there when interesting seasonals are on, but the regulars are of above average quality. I would come to eat from time to time if I lived close, but I would not necessarily come as a regular drinker unless they bring out some appealing seasonals. Still a very satisfying and worthy stop if you’re in the area.
Nice place. Beer and food are both good. Service is bad. But this place is outragiously overprice.
Cheapest thing is on the menu is the pizza. $18 for a bar pie??!! Com’on.
I’d stay away unless you are really curious about the beer.
I stopped in on a Thursday night at 9:30 and it was jam packed. This is obviously a popular place in Red Bank. Very mixed crowd. The cozy 4 sided wood bar is dimly lit, with plasma tvs. Very loud when it’s crowded. The menu is a little pricey, but the food is outstanding if you love gourmet Italian. The beers were ok, but the Maxwell’s dry stout was excellent. I think the focus of this place is the food and dining experience, not the beer. If you want a great dinner and want to sample some local brew, this is worth a stop. If you just want beer, I would not go out of your way unless you are in the area.
