Pretty cool place that mostly features in their bottled beer selection, as the draft selection is very weak. Pretty extensive bottle list, most of which is unsurprisingly very pricy. Modern feel to the place but also quite comfy and relaxed. Service is astute but nothing overly friendly. Not really worth a stop with all the other options in the area to be honest.
Biskopen is one of my favorite bar in Bergen for many reasons: 1. it’s a bar that evolves. For the last year, they went from a selection of 20 beers to a selection of almost 120 bottle beers (probably the largest selection at the moment in Bergen). They have beers that you won’t find in other bars such as the Japanese Red Rice or the Bierwerk from Namibia. 2. the staff gives great recommandations and will always be nice to you, as long as you are nice to them. 3. it is a cozy place, with dim light and a fire place, perfect to fight the rainy Bergen weather. Not the place to get wasted, but fun is allowed! 4. the bar is one of the few that are open everyday until 3.00 (alcohol serving stops at 2.30).
Definitely a place to go regularly.
One of my favourite Places for a quiet beer! Cosy pub with a good selection of bottled beers from various breweries. The tap selection is not amazing, but good enough. They also have a very good selection of Whisky’s, Gin and rum.
Friendly staff who’s helpful with beer recommendations.
The location is in the centre of Bergen, Close to the cinema. The pub is dimly lit, with good and not too loud music.
Top tip: Try one of the large (0.75L) beers with a few friends, they give a great value for Your Money and every singe one I’ve tried has been an eye opener to the world of beer.
Pros: Good selection, Nice Place to go out with friends
Cons: Not the biggest selection of beers on tap, can be crowded at times.
Well located pub in Bergen. Unimpressive tap selection with mostly commercial beers. No bottle list per say, your selection is inside a few small fridges behind the bar with the basic lineup from Nogne, the usual boring stuff from Aass, some other common Norwegian offferings. Trendy young patrons, cute girls, trendy music. Not many great places to drink in Bergen but you can skip this one.
Did I like this place or not? It’s hard to say. There are so many great beer bars in this part of Bergen and Biskopen does not stand out in the crowd. To bad, because this is a nice pub with an ok beer selection. Only one Waldemars on tap. (Visited September 13th 2013)
A nice and cozy pub in the "beer district"of Bergen. Has a few beers on tap including the semi-microbrewed Waldemar series from Hansa. Has a decent selection of beers on bottle, and a couple not found elsewhere in town. The basement area is like being in somebodys livingroom with soft and cozy couches. Worth a visit. Crowded at weekends.
Looks like converted living room, nicely done. Dark interior with comfortable sofa’s. Staff is very friendly and willing to discuss beer. I was there early so just few guests. Small but good selection of beers and again lots of beackground information. Music is OK not too loud and local band.
