Amazing place to find those beers that you have trouble finding anywhere else.

Living south of the river gives me easy access to Blue Max. I went before Xmas for the first time and was overwhelmed by all the sections by country to choose from. I have been back three times since then. I was helped a great deal by the staff when I ventured into unfamiliar beer styles.
Home away from home (live in Burnsvile). Such a large selection. Ask what you’re looking for, and you’ll have friendly service that gives yous plenty of suggestions. Great range of beer styles, brands, and origins. Some out-of-season seasonals are often available. Hard to decide what you want, which can make it hard to leave.
Pre-RBSG 2007 beer buying trip. Fantastic selection of beer. Aisles and aisles of it. Huge selection of vintage beer. Gales prize old ale back to 96. Huge Cantillon selection. Many of the polish meads. Staff is friendly and very helpful. I asked about the condition of a bottle of Gales Festival Mild. It’d been sitting there for a few years apparently, so he popped open the bottle and returned with cups. Still in fine condition and we brought bottles home. A little painful on the pocket with so much beer here. If you’re anywhere in the area, drop by here and pack your car for the ride home.
An absolute awesome place. From the outside it looks just like another typical liquor store. But when you step inside and see the mind boggling selection.........WOW!!! The staff was super friendly and very helpful. It was a great shopping day for me.

I gave it a 4 for Ambiance ’cuz I do not always like the music.A 10 for service because I have never ever had a time when Jim or Kyle did not take the time to show me every new beer in the store.And 14 for selection,yeah well maybe they do not have every beer in the world but guess what??They have every beer that can possibly be had in the state of Minnesota.And if you are not impressed,then you do better.So they get a 20 because they go out of their way to make us ,the beer drinking public,happy.

An unassuming little place from the outside, but inside it’s pretty spectacular. Beer is stuck in coolers, on shelves, above shelves--lots of selection. Good breadth of midwestern beers along with options from around the world. Some glassware, but not as much as they could. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place. Of course, it’s only 15 minutes from my house, so I think that means it’s mine, so don’t take the good stuff. Or else.
My favorite place to go for beer or whisky (single malts). I am not quite on a first name basis with the staff, but they are all very friendly and know their beers. I talk with their beer guy whenever I see him. Best selection I have ever seen, including many Begians and Saisons not found at very many stores in Minnesota. Since we moved from Savage I don’t get in their as often, but stop by every time I am in town.
This is an exceptional place. Blue Max stocks everything they can get in Minnesota, and take very good care of vintage selections. I picked up a 1991 JW Lee’s Harvest Ale when I was there. Jim was a great help, as I had several questions during my visit. The beer section isn’t huge (area wise), but it is absolutely packed! Plan on spending some time here, I know I did.
94 = ★★★★½ (World class)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
