Euro-heavy list, as befitting its name, but they still make room for western New York-brewed beers. (Just don’t come here to drink more than one IPA.) Good food. Reasonable prices. The only drawbacks: The bathrooms are badly in need of an upgrade and the volume level (nothing but hard surfaces) makes conversation difficult-to-impossible.
A few of us stopped in a few days ago. My 3rd stop there. Large crowd inside since it was cold and could not use the outside seating. They have very friendly knowledgeable bartenders. We got our beers quickly. I noticed that the beer list on their website is not kept updated as they are at my favs in Rochester (Old Toad and Tap & Mallet) Still had some great beers though. A good time was had by all.

This was our lunch stop on our way back west on 7/7/13. Cool Belgian cafe environment. Service was adequate. Very good beer selection. We enjoyed Bon Chien 2011, Founder’s Rubaeus, New England Gandhi-Bot and Community Beerworks Frank. Paper menu was inaccurate due to quick turnover, but it’s a short walk to the chalkboard. Food was pretty solid as well. The chorizo breakfast burrito was nothing special, but the poutine more than made up for it. duck frites with duck gravy, duck confit and cheese curds. Divine. Great place overall.
Here for many Friday happy hours. Tap selection is constantly rotating, so you know the beer is fresh. Until recently, had a majority of selection leaning toward Belgian styles, but have now balanced it out with more domestic ales. Top notch gastropub food as well. Definitely worth a stop if your in Buffalo, in itself a very good beer town.
After a lovely Senators win yesterday against the Sabres, we went to The Blue Monk for dinner. The Duck Frites were great, my fish and chips were excellent, and Lisa had an ultimate grilled cheese which was real good. Selection was very good with about 30 taps, all of which were US micros and Belgians. Nice to see some stuff I had never heard of including Community Beer Works. It was really busy but the wait staff kept their cool and did a great job. We will be back!
Blue Monk is in a hip part of the city - the food is normally wonderful (try the braised short rib sandwich - amazing), and the beer selection is always great. Lots of imports and rarities. The bartenders are knowledgable, and are there to help. Prices are a little high for bottles, but sometimes it’s worth it for the things you can only find there. I definitely frequent it, and am a huge fan.
very nice place, you want an eccentric selection of brews- come here, but bring your wallet, some brews were very expensive.. . . very friendly knowledgeable bartenders .. a great place, lots of awesome interesting brews. a must stop

This place is the real deal. Bar atmosphere, with two levels, tables and standard bar seating. Pretty good food. Pretty helpful and friendly staff. And then the taplist. Beers from all over NY, the USA and the world, including a ton I had not tried before. Prices are reasonable, and they do four-beer flights, but they choose the beers, not you, which is a bit of a bummer. Didnt even get a chance to look at the bottle list, but I spied some interesting selections in the coolers. All in all a great place that is worth the hype.
