Not quite the selection id verdugo or the food at fathers office in los Angeles but still very solid varied and uncompromising. Good basic food choices and a longed quality selection of beers. Educational point is cool
A great bar just a short walk from our apartment. Dark wooden interior and a welcoming atmosphere. I visitied twice, first time alone and the second with my wife. The same female bartender both evenings, and she provided good service. 11 beers from Monkey Paw on tap. I had a couple of flights, thats for sure! A flight (4 x 4oz) was $10. Not bad. 24 taps and 17 were new for me. I did them all... Fun fact: one of the speciality cheeses in the menu was "Ekte Geitost", a hard goat cheese from Norway. Not my preferred beer snack, but certainly exotic here in Hollywood. (Visited July 11th and 13rd 2016)
So, you’re walking along Hollywood and you need a great beer and meal. Blue Palms has you covered. The tap list is very respectable with a good mix of regional beers and rare/beer geek wants. The bottle list is purposefully curated. I was impressed with how good the happy hour was, not just by LA standards either. Overall the prices actually aren’t that bad, especially considering this is in the middle of Hollywood. I had the fish sandwich with brussel sprouts and some of the lady’s nachos. They clearly take their food menu very seriously. Service was personable and attentive.
My favorite place in Hollywood to enjoy some new beers. I have been here a couple of times now, and I plan on making it my regular Monday night spot. They carry Pliny The Elder which I’m the most excited about! The bartender is very knowledgeable about the selection, and doesn’t mind pouring tasters. The food is good for a gastropub, but definitely come here for the beer. The place has a great at home feel, and the other customers are nice and polite. I highly recommend this place for somebody looking for a nice beer selecting 24 taps, plus a cask tap.
Very busy place on Hollywood Blvd, not far from the super touristic Walk of Fame. The tap list was decent with a lot of Hangar 24 beers at the time we visited. Ice cream portion from their desert menu was huge. Free wi-fi and you can check their updated tap list from their website.
Visited half past midnight on a Saturday night. A cool location. Nice enough inside but nothing ’special’. Only a few people hanging out. I guess service was sort of indifferent, not particularly friendly. About 80% of the tap list was widely distributed Ommegang. Bottles were priced to stay unless you’ve got $$$ to burn. Otherwise, prices were fair. Nachos hit the spot. I expected much more.
Maybe I hit this place up at a bad time but this is by far the worst tap list I have ever seen at ratebeer bar rated 80 or above and this is a 97 at the time of review. I don’t expect it reach that high again.
This is the list:
Bitburger Premium Pils German
Rogue Dad’s Little Helper
Rogue Mocha Porter
Kinetic Combustion IPA White India
Lips of Faith Pluot
Rogue Farms Chipotle
New Belgium Peach Porch Lounger
Rogue Chocolate Stout
Rogue XS Dead Guy
Stone IPA India
Noble All Night Long
New Belgium Cascara
Rogue Juniper Pale Ale
Firestone Easy Jack.
Whose stupid idea was it to think having a bunch of Rogue and New Beligium’s was appealing? There is 1 not nationally distributed California beer. You guys are a joke. Its ok to have events, but you need to have at least 1 baller or rare beer on at all times to be a top spot.
They had a vintage list if you can call an old Older Viscosity and Red Poppy rare. They had a regular bottle list that was a list of every widely distributed national beer. I was hoping, I was just wrong on the taps but alas more cluelessness.
It was also really cool paying $10 to park for a 20 minute visit.
One of the best beer bars I’ve ever been to - so glad we stopped in. Got there right when they opened and learned that on tuesdays during their happy hour, all beers are $4 a pour. Damn! 24 beers on tap with a great selection from CA. Ask to see the bottle list - it was quite impressive. They have a ton of Firestone Walker beer available by the bottle. I happily spent $45 on FW13. Food was really good. Service was good as well.
