Bobís is one of my favorite bars in Columbus. Known as The Cultural Hub of the Midwest it is often overlooked due to the fact that it looks like a dive bar and is sandwiched between one of those Work now, get paid now places and a Gyro shoppe. They have roughly 150-170 bottled beers in their coolers, many of which are your everyday finds, but among them are some solid IPAs and stouts. Good selection of Rogue bottles. At any given time, this bar carries Edís Cave Creek and Founders Breakfast Stout. You just never know. The weekend staff is the best around, and most of them are beer geeks so they know their stuff and treat their regulars like family. 2 pool tables, darts, jukebox, and Karaoke on Sunday nights. This place can get really loud and very busy on the weekends as there is not a ton of space. No food served here.
Every time weíre in Columbus, a trip to Bobís Bar is a must. Parking is only thing lacking. The beer selection is impressive and service is always friendly and knowledgeable. There are plenty of beers to choose from and the selection can be viewed in the glass coolers behind the bar. There are 27 taps always rotating tasty brews. Founders Breakfast Stout and Ruination were on tap when we stopped by which made us very very happy. Overall, itís a great place for people who appreciate good beer.
Holy hole in the wall! This is a Columbus destination must and can best be described as the non-beer-bar beer bar. From the outside looks totally generic, hilarious sign. Walk in and looks like a complete local place. Sit down at the bar and greeted by some very friendly bar tenders who are not only knowledgable but have good suggestions. A really nice draft list of about 20 beers, local beers and very varied. A big bottle list of regulars and an even better list of seasonal bottles. Got to play some naked photo hunt as well.
I call it a non beer bar because half the people there are just locals drinking miller lite and crushing shots. However, top to bottom the beers stand with most top places. Not as many bottles as Bodega but no d-bag hipsters either so its a trade off win.
Go to this place when in Columbus.
Best selection in Columbus and a fun dive bar format - easiest place to find difficult beers (Three Floydís, especially.) Have to have 40 or so taps. Loud music, darts, pool and great beer - what else does one need?
It looks like a hole on the outside. When you go in its clean and nice the bar tender was cool and they boast 175 beers. I love this place. The have a world beer tour that gets you t-shirts and mugs and such. On tap they had....Strongbow,Great Lakes Seasonal,
Newcastle, Bass, Guinness, Flying Dog Pale Ale, Chimay White, Bellís Two Hearted Ale, Magic Hat #9, Elevator Bleeding Buckeye Red Ale, Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale, Hazed and Infused Dry Hopped Ale, Blue Moon, Stella Artois
Unibroue Chambly Noire.
Great place, great tap list. I love the pool tables and jukebox, atmosphere is completely unpretentious making it a great place to go and kick back and just relax and drink. Service is very friendly. Iíve gotten myself into some trouble here on occasion and I want to apologize to the bartender that had to kick me out.... but I still love Bobís Bar!

(Visited 08/2008): Finally made it to the "Cultural Hub of the Midwest" recently. The bar is located on Rte 23 a couple miles south of I-270N. There is a small lot in front and some street parking nearby, but I imagine finding spots can be tricky at busy times.
After passing their small patio to the interior, you can see a long space with the bar along the left with some table seating across from it. Past that are dart boards and pool tables. The bar offers a good view of the coolers and taps.
The bottle selection is impressive, with local/regional favorites from Elevator, CBC, Great Lakes, Hoppiní Frog, Bellís, etc. Also some national beers like Stone, Green Flash and Rogue are represented, as are imports. The tap beers are maybe not as varied but still some solid offerings.
Service on a weekday evening was good, and the bartender was knowledgeable about all the beers that were ordered.
No food here.
Overall this bar is definitely going into my rotatation.
This is my favorite bar in Columbus to get good beer. There is always something different.
They sell bombers but for me when Im going to Bobís I want to try 2 or 3 different beers.
The beer selection is the best in town. They have all the common Unibroue, Hoppin Frog, DFH and lots of other beers that you would never expect to see in a bar.
The atmosphere is nice and calm. Lots of folks that look like this is their local watering hole. Not crowed. There are a few booths to sit and enjoy some good beer. Free darts and a coin operated pool table or two.
Atmosphere is just above average, but crowd is pretty good. Bottle selection is excellent and some good drafts. Price is very reasonable. Seek this place out. I love that they claim to be the cultural hub of the midwest.
