has a a great number of swiss beers, food not bad , has a classical brasserie ambiance (wooden tables and so on, in a large high hall in the mainstation,i like that).
but there are much more swiss beers, and i miss some of the best ones on theyr
the smoking in this place is a bit annoying ,because its less easy to taste the beer then, better sit on the tables out of the restaurant,in the main hall of the mainstation
The beer bar in the main station. The list of beers is surprisingly big, yet it contains mostly Swiss macros. Besides that the place is okay, food works, prices are high due to location, staff does not know that much about beer. Worth a go if you don’t know Swiss beers and you’re waiting for the train for, say, 20 minutes. Because if you’re waiting longer, you should go to Erzbierschof instead which isn’t far either.
Stumbled into this gigantic place. Nice surpirse for a railwaybrasserie, quite a large selection of mainly Swiss beers. OK, just what I wanted. Had a sampler (7 beers), quite regular beers but added to my list. Food not bad either and pleasant service. (Zürich 201609)

We visited Brasserie Federal on Friday 24th June 2016. We’d just walked from The International Beer Bar to here which was about 8-10 minutes walk away I guess. Brasserie Federal is located in the main station complex on the ground level floor.
The bar is quite big and occupies a corner position there is plenty of seating both inside and out, the outside is on the main station concourse. We sat on the end of a table where a group of young men sat at the other end, I have to say that I was quite surprised that they were smoking as this was still essentially inside, but I am not sure of the rules in Switzerland.
The beer choice was pretty good, the beer menu offering up lots of mostly Swiss beers by the look of things. We didn’t hang around as we wanted to get to the beer shop and also Bar Andorra.
It is a place, in my point of view, classical just to drink one or two beers. I went there twice and the service is standard, anonymous. The selection of Swiss beers is large but they are mostly lagers. It is ok but I think that you have better places to make a all night in Zürich.
I quite liked this place. It’s big, and busy, and at a train station so probably never going to be the coolest place in the world, but the building is quite nice and you can sit outside. Service was friendly enough and it’s nkt expensive for Zurich. And they have a mystifyingly large selection of Swiss lagers, both on tap and bottles, and some of them really aren’t bad!
Located in the main hall of the train station, this place is perfect to get a glass of one of the many Swiss beers they offer while waiting for the next train. However, not the place to go if you are a Craft Beer lover.
Loud, noisy placea which is a big "thumbs down" for me personally. If you’re looking for a little bit of "Biergarten mood" you’ll be happy though.
The selection reads as if they have a lot of beer, but 9 out of 10 are a complete waste of storage space as they are mostly lagers that could easily be replaced by each other.
The service staff is mostly sub-par, they don’t seem to care at all whether you stay or leave. Odd! Hello Mr. Manager, you should look into that...
Very overrated place and should be avoided if you have the time/mobility to go somewhere else. Given that Erzbierschof opened a bar only 5 minutes away I can’t see why any beer lover would ever enter this place again.
We hit this place on an evening when Switzerland were playing in the football world cup. The place was packed inside and we could not get served at our table outside, on the station. I went inside to get our drinks and was served them in plastic glasses. I refused to have them. I told the manager we were not interested in the football and were sat outside away from the televisions. He let me have proper glasses, but I was then overcharged. One of our beers was absolotely rank. We need to return on a quieter day.
