Really authentic brewpub in the brewpub strip. I reckon this was the best of them. Stale air, smoke, drunk old guys, excellent beer, friendly staff and brewer. I dunno how to describe this place really.. Its just so incredibly German you have to go and drink some beers here. Awesome.
Pretty good spot. Very decent selection of beers available on tap and in bottle, of good quality. This place seems to be a popular locals hangout. Large, traditional interior. Pretty good value, fine service. Worth a visit if you find yourself in Forchheim.
The is a place with a very rough feeling on a weekday afternoon. Presumably retired and unemployed men are hanging out putting a buzz on. A woman might be scared to go alone--hell, I was. It is definitely worth a visit, though, to get the feel of the Franken underbelly. The kellerbier in bottle was very good. Sadly the Export from gravity wasn’t.
Goes immediately into my all time top 50! Great 50s/60s style basic boozer with clientele and ambiance to match. The service is efficient and charmingly brusque. Bring your own food, talk to the locals and sup the delicious cheap beer. What more can a man want? As for some of the negative reviews on here, I guess they just don’t get it!
visted on 25th of october..i think the british would call this place" tipicall old style proper boozer" ..we got in and only old people were drinking their "export" directly from a wood barrel..nice interior and beer ..
Visited twice in July 2013. This place is pleasant if a bit tacky. Very friendly lady serving beers was helpful with information about Annafest and other things both times I was in. The Fassbier was served in a krug from a plastic keg on the bar and was good if a little lightly flavored. I also tried the Schwarze Anna from a bottle.
