So, this is a bit double. We went to the brewery, as we were told you could sample some beers there. But they only did big parties or people who rented the place. They told us to go to the sausage restaurant on the corner of the street. As the signs there said "Brauhaus Rothenburg" as well, I think it counts as their official "brewpub" location. So here goes. To start with: the beers were served lukewarm. It was terrible. Apparently the guy had been working on the tap box before, and only just opened up around lunch time. Still, you don’t serve lukewarm beer. It’s an abomination. This is not the UK! :p Ok, anyway, I tried to see past that, when reviewing the beers, which was not easy. We have a plate of soup, which was delicious, I have to say! Just wondering how you can make 4 kinds of soup, daily, with only 5 customers a day. Cause during lunch time that was all the people we saw. We came back around 5pm, for a snack. There was a note on the door, saying he’d be back around 18h. So we went for a walk, and decided to come back later. We really wanted to try those 3 sausages in a roll. We came back around 18h, waited for more than an hour for the guy to return. Good thing we had our books with us. No one ever showed up. As good as your food may be, things like serving warm beer and not opening your restaurant, will put you out of business. We know the guy has some serious health problems, but that will not save him. I’m afraid this place is doomed to go under, even though I seriously hope it will not. As for the brewery: that brewer needs to get his shit together and make sure he’s just serving beers in his own brewery. He’s sitting on a gold mine and not realising it.

Not a brewpub or a Brauereigasthof; small brewery - looking like car repair shop - in the old town of Rothenburg; not easy to find, do not go to the Schmidtsgässchen, the entrance is in the Galgengasse. Friendly owner selling You his old-fashioned bottles. Worth a stop....
