About half full on a cold Friday in November (2014 or 2015) at half past five. Canadiens game was on the projector. Our server spoke enough English to get everything across, but not as fluent as servers I’ve encountered at some of the other Montreal beer hotspots, which is not really a knock on him, but rather something that most of the Montreal places seem to prize - bilingual serving staff. The girl who brought us out our food seemed to speak just about perfect English, so I can’t fault the place for one guy. Beer list included 5 of their own, 15 guest taps, and a cider. Guest taps seemed to all be Quebecois breweries, with 4 from Dieu du Ciel. Beer prices run form $3 for 6 ounce pours of a couple of their own, up to 9.25 for pints of bigger stuff (like the 10+% Citra triple from DdC, which maybe shouldn’t be served in a pint). Food was mostly all on the fatty/greasy side, nachos, pizzas, smoked meat sandwiches, poutine. There was a token salad on the menu. Went with a mac-n-cheese pizza (douteuse), which seemed to have a little bit of barbecue sauce on it. The menu description included the word fromage four times in a one sentence description. Yeah. It was greasily delicious. A worthwhile stop, but the way the Montreal beer scene seems to be going every year when we make our annual pilgrimage, there’s a ton of worthy stops.

Visited late on a Friday night. Located in an old building a bit away from downtown but just a rock thrown away from MaBrasserie. The interior looks like an old tavern. It wasn’t too crowded when I arrived at around 11 p.m. but a ton of people arrived right after me. Service was a bit rude and slow at first but once it calmed down the server was nicer and seemed to be knowledgeable about the beers on the menu. Selection was good quantity-wise but disappointing in terms of quality. It looks like it was much better a few days before from what I saw though. I didn’t try the food. Prices were reasonable for the area. Tasters are available. When it comes to this kind of old-ish pub, I prefer Le Cheval Blanc by a fair margin. Still, I wouldn’t mind visiting again if I’m in the area.

Good selection of beers. Best bar food in town, the poutiflette is a must have!

Visited on a busy Wednesday night during the Mondiale festival week (back in 2012?). Fun, funky music, laid-back atmosphere, three huge rooms, one large projector screen showing beer commercials. Only a 15-minute walk from where we were staying. Tons of regular beers on tap, lots of specials for the festival week. (4/8/14/NA/8/14) 80

I couldn’t get in on my first attempt due to a hockey game being shown and it was full to capacity. Came back on a more relaxing afternoon and there was a steady crowd but comfortable. Nice selection of guest taps along with a couple of house beers. The bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable and even poured a few tasters for me to try once he gathered I clearly enjoy good beer. I skipped the food. A good drinking tavern.

Beau pub mais le service laisse à désirer. Beau choix de bières pour les connaisseurs avec des importations spéciales.
