Dive bar /bottle shop with a reliable selection of quality beers although not radically different to what you will find in plenty of other spots in NYC. They usually have interesting music on and donít feel the need to blast it out despite some of the bar staffís heavy metal proclivities. The high tables all really uneven so always find myself worrying that my beer will go flying towards the floor.
Visited on 6th July 2016 with two friends. Inviting, backstreet bottle shop with a wide range of taps at the front. No bar, so you are intimate with the taps. Long tables and stools inside, and a rear patio. Friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff purvey 150 bottles and 19 draught beers, with a distinct German element resulting from the ownerís import deals with the likes of Rothaus. The connected brewery is Greenpoint, feeding into the tap range. A colourful display of psychedelic artwork adorns the walls inside. Frequented by beer enthusiasts, with a feeling that everyone knows somebody there. I thoroughly enjoyed my two Greenpoint brews plus Rothaus Pils. This spot is some way out from Manhattan, but visitors to New York should definitely give this one a go.
I went here while crashing at my wifeís hotel, only spent about 30 min in this place, but fell in love with it. Overall the concept is fantastic, you can take anything from the fridge to go, or spend a couple of bucks to drink it right there. Staff was friendly, low maintenance place with a nice ambiance, great for a stop-over to have one or multiple drinks. Definitely would like to go back to this place, highly recommended!
Check-in in on Sat. during sour on sour on sour tap takeover. The place was packed. They had a very good selection (amazing they could get all of them same time) and was pouring flights of four draft (200ml each). Super friendly staff and nice vibe. Very much worth a visit.
Nice and small shop in Greenpoint very close to the riverside. Good selection of taps and Iíd say about 150 bottles. Nice selection but not as good as in gone but not forgotten Breukelen Beer Merchants which was my local. Besides US some German and Belgian bottles which werenít that interesting to me. Good service. Very good place, worth visiting.
Fun spot. Walk in and thereís a narrow spot to stand and look up at the draft board to decide what to order. Take your beer and find a seat. Easy as that. You can peruse the fridges of bottles as you get your drink on or just opt to chill. Staff were fine, maybe hipster...I can never tell these days. Take note(s) itís cash only here.
Tiny little place with a dog and a fireplace. Hard not to like. A dozen taps and a keg they have some neat things on tap. A well curated fridge to go makes this a geeks delights. Small pours and flight makes it hard alone. Staff like to talk beer, but itís a bit expensive which makes it a hard place to love.
