Visited on a Friday night in September 2017 after 2200. Been here a few times over the years, and its been modernised since my last visit where I remember it being a darkish long beer hall. Now it's a modernish place, with a too bright bar with Paris metro tiles, Europe is really becoming all the same. The place was full of locals, it's an institution, you can somehow see the ghost of Michael Jackson sitting quietly in the corner. Waitress was flat out, a but gruff, but not rude, sure I would be same working flat out on a Friday night. Four beers only from Budweiser: Special, Dark, Original (CZK40 for half litre) and Classic (CZK35). I personally remember the beers being stunning, but today they just seem average (3/5). Whether they have worsened over the decades, or if others have raised their game so much, probably a bit of both. I didn't eat, but with 5 vegetarian choices you know it's an extensive menu. Considering its location just off the main square, I think the prices are fair. I think when in Bud, this is the bar you have to visit.

Elegant wood and copper interior, classic dark brown wooden chairs n tables. Good czech dinners, menu in english. Quick staff, though they could very well be more positive minded for the total impression of ambience at the place. Well working wifi. Good row of Budvar taps. Cold n fresh beers. Some proper glassware.

terrible and arrogant service. the waiter probably think that strangers are stupids. the selection is quite good, in particular the tmavy is an excellente example for the style. characteristic place and good and abundant food. beer and food are very cheap.

Able to viist here on a junket for the brewery and we were treated like kings. So, take my review with a grain of salt, as we were probably treated better then the average tourist. Warm ambience and as one previous rater stated, empty mugs do not stay that way long.

Traditional beerhall setting and the range of Budvar on draft (including the Kroužkovaný Ležák).

Pivnice in the Budavr hotel Maly Pivovar, a few steps from the main square. Traditional interieur with wooden panels and historic pictures. Krouzkovane pivo/Kräusenbier is available here, as well as the rest of the Budvar range. The meals they offer are the usual suspects, nothing special. My portion of potato pancake with smoked meat (Cmunda po Kaplicku) was unusually and incredibly tiny for a Czech restaurant, but quite well-prepared. The beer is excellent. Watch out: once you’ve emptied the glass, it is automatically and immediately replaced by a new one. Staff were effective but not friendly at all. During my visit in 2006 the waiter was much more friendly.
