This is a real beer bar. Unpretentious, no effort to be upscale. Great burgers. Decent set of taps, mostly local and regional microbrews. Huge bottle selection. I was there twice during a recent visit. Both times had really good service. Downside was that the music was too loud - had to shout to be heard.
Super small bar on the side of a parking garage but it really works for them. Laid back bar that was packed at lunch as people ate, we didn’t. Good selection of beers that are mostly from the Boston area or other New England breweries. Service was very good. I could definitely see myself being a regular here if I lived up there.
I recommend checking out this place for a real Boston experience. This is a dark, dirty dive bar with good, spunky serve staff and cool music on the speakers. Bukowski is definitely not a beer-first kind of bar, but the tap selection, while not extensive, is not short of good things to drink. There are locals, regionals and solid micros available. The menu looks pretty solid but I did not eat on my visit here. Come here to get a healthy dose of Boston and drink a good beer while you’re at it.
Definitely one of my favorite spots, ever. I chose this spot to have my first legal brew on my 21st birthday. The selection is all I could reasonably ask for, but pretty expensive (considering you can get many of the bottles they serve at any decent beer shop nearby for less than half the price). There are many, many bottles however... I have only had minimal experience with the food, but it’s certainly adequate... pretty standard bar food. The proper glassware thing is no problem... this place rules Boston.
This is a divey place with a great selection of local beers. When I was there they had 21 beers on tap and 17 were local. If you’re a tourist (like me) looking for some beer brewed in MA and surrounding states, I would stop here first. I think this place is under-rated on Ratebeer. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited this place twice while visiting Boston for the ACBF. Located near Prudential Center/Copley Center and the hotels surrounding. Be warned... CASH ONLY!This place is no nonsense.
Food is burgers, sandwiches, wings, etc and pretty damn good. Everything after 11 is $5.95 and burgers 11-6 M-F are like $3.
Tap selection was mostly local beers. Had a few cask ales available too. 99 Bottle available too from an ice chest that runs the legnth of the bar. My wife had a Victory Golden Monkey that had an expiration date in 2014, so I’d assume it was pretty fresh.
Atmosphere was mixed between people going to and from Red Sox games and some hipsters. Music was americana which I could have done with out.
Prices were good for Boston.
Even though I lived in Boston for 4 years and passed by this place many times, I never thought to venture in. Well, I am certainly glad that I did on my recent visit. This is a dive-like place literally perched over a highway. Themed after Bukowski (surprise). Dark. Played 80s new wave and David Bowie. Food was sweet potato tater tots. They were good. Beer selection was pretty nice. Very local, but with a well curated selection of out-of-state sours. Service was very nice. The waitress made suggestions and actually discussed the beer (not sure how much she actually knew, but she had real opinions). Basically, I came and left with no complaints. Cash only, but oh well.
Probably the best beer bar in Boston proper and an old school standby at that. The vibe is great and it’s the right kind of dirty. It’s tiny and can get crowded but the selection though not worldclass is comforting for any beer nerd. There will be something you love or haven’t had. Will if its crowded it can be hard to get a seat the bartenders have always been pro when I’ve been there.
It took me forever to get to this place, especially the way Boston’s map explains it. The staff can be a bit rough if youre not a regular, but they tend to ease up a bit. Average pub food but it is good. I guess if you know what you want this is an excellant place, but be cautious when you try to be friendly to the bar staff, i dont think they take it well.
