I really like this place. It is confined, over two floors and everyone is always friendly. Bar keep suggested Rochefort Trappistes 10 and De Dolle Oerbier after I tore my way through the tap beers. One complaint: not everything advertised is available but selection very impressive nonetheless. The Cracked Kettle beer shop, right outside, was open until late, with a huge bottle selection.
yeah! absolutely rocked down bar. looks like 50+ years of rock, alk and cigarettes. good ol' times! best staff this Week. only 14 beers on tap and a lot of Bottles. but very charming - if you not prefer glamour and hipsters.
Place with old school feeling short walk from the center. Service is good. Selection is good, but reading the walls for bottle list is tiring. Prices are reasonable. Orval is still 4.80 like in another location (so i guess other beers are similarly priced as well). Overall: good place to have a beer, has a soul.
Gezellig klein tentje, met 14 bieren op tap. Prijzen zijn ok. Kan wel erg druk en vol worden.

A cozy little place with a nice seat by the window. I had to squeeze past other patrons to find a seat, but once there, it was within an arm’s distance of the bar and bartender. A good selection of Belgians which is what I wanted. My only disappointment was that the Westvleteren XII that was listed on the board was not available. Even this close to the source, I guess that one is hard to come by. Nonetheless, the bartender had other excellent similar beers to recommend. Friendly service. English-speaking. Worth coming back to. (Updated) I did come back - twice, and the second time found the Westy XII. Still a great bar, though the bartender this night was rather grumpy.
Visited in the evening, was quite crowded, had trouble finding the seat. Cozy interior. Service was very good. 15 taps, nothing too interesting, some new ticks, but mostly usual suspects. Solid selection of bottles, an interesting bottle here or there. Worth visiting for the ambiance, not so much for new and/or rare beers.

Good variety of Belgian and local beers. I was there in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013. It is my tradition when I arrive to Amsterdam.
Another small and cramped craft beer bar in Amsterdam. When I entered the bar I needed a couple of minutes before I could read the tap list due to condensation on glasses. There is a sitting area up a few steps on a mezzanine, where we managed to squeeze in six more people. Indeed a charming place! Decent beer selection and a flight is 4 x 15 cl for€ 9.25. Attentive and nice service. Male drunkards, be aware! The staircase down to the loo is extremely steep, actually more like a ladder! And when you have unleashed the Salmon, some may have a problem with the elevated toilet bowl. Dwarfs will face a serious problem! I enjoyed my stay. A fun experience.
