I just got back from the Sour, Lambic, and Berliner Weiss Festival held at the Cajun Café. The place was fun; great patio with huge stage for music, dock and tables right by the water, tons of parking, and really nice atmosphere. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. They had people walking around with snacks for us to enjoy, and the food served was damn good too! Not sure what all they had to offer for full menu and beer selection; but it was a great place to host that sour fest. Super fun.
Superb Cajun restaurant with an excellent beer range. It was fairly quiet when we came in just before 8. It’s fairly staid inside but there’s a nice seating area outside. The food is brilliant but the beer. My God. 15 Florida-based beers with a wide range of styles represented, as well as a bottle fridge with certain breweries (Cigar City, Unibroue, Abita - well we are in a Cajun restaurant) available. Proprietor is a Bristolian apparently so that’s pretty cool. A must if in the area.
Visited for dinner on our drive through the area. Such a cool restaurant. Fun location right on the bayou. Cool outdoor seating area deck, on the water. Expected to see a croc, or shark or something, and according to our server, it wouldn’t be that unusual. Ordered a couple food items, all being delicious. Very impressive draft list as well as an extensive bottle selection. Enjoyed a local draft. We were there a day before they held their sour fest event, which looked like it was going to be the local event of the year. Overall, excellent food and beer, and excellent service. A must visit for the area, even if you have to drive a bit to get there.
Visited during RBWG 2015. Well we definitely didn’t have a ’normal’ visit here. But the visit we had was outstanding. Paul and his set us up in the back - right near the bayou, as it were - with a buffet and a few taps of free-flowing Florida goodness. The food just about perfect for a group of men attempting to drink all the beer in greater Tampa: hearty, tasty and filling. The restaurant has a ramshackle ambiance that seems to hearken back to its biker roadhouse days; I quite like it. When I get back to Tampa I will absolutely come here so that I can explore the menu more fully and try some of the other beers on offer. The visit here was definitely a highlight of the weekend.
Visited on the RBWG 2015 bus tour. Nice no frills restaurant by the water. Great service and hospitality from Paul and co. Didn’t have access to the regular draft selection but the two drafts and several growlers were all great. Food was fantastic cajun grub. Can’t comment on value since everything was part of the RBWG bus cost. Well worth a stop for some great beer and food.
Visited here during RBWG. This is an absolutely huge venue with many different drinking and dining sections. I would absolutely believe it if somebody told me that Paul could pack over 500 people in here. Our group was seated in the open air back section by the bayou and thoroughly enjoyed the great food and hospitality. While we didn’t have the standard beer menu available to us, I’m sure Paul takes care of the masses. Our group had some great pours from CCB and other regional breweries. The food was plentiful, filling, and quite enjoyable. Service was top notch. Overall, a really fun place. Cheers, Paul!
