I didn’t even realize where I was when I spied the giant yellow building that is Joe Canal’s. It feels old and almost dingy on the inside, but the selection more than makes up for it. A couple of rows of large bottles and six packs with a "build your own" section, also. A decent selection of Belgians and Euro beers but mostly American Micros. I snagged some Maine Beer Co. stuff, Founders, etc. while there. Prices are noticeably cheaper than in Philly, which was nice. I was mildly concerned about some of the IPAs, as some seemed to be a bit dusty and I’m not sure how much the stock rotates. I picked up a nice selection of porters and stouts, though. Will definitely stop again if passing through the area.
Hit this place up before trying out the High Street Grill ... Typical looking Joe Canal’s, but the beer selection here is a couple of long aisles ... sections of seasonals, belgians, british, german and a nice mikkeller/evil twin/tool danish section rounded out by a long section of US micro’s .... nothing too rare or aged .... they had a good amount of bottles packed with glassware which is always nice ...... definitely a good variety of smaller US microbrews .... the beer manager was available and very helpful with showing all the fresh IPA’s and new arrivals ..... prices were typical jersey nice and cheap .... Would definitely stop in here again if I’m in the neighborhood.
Been here a couple times with JRedmond and others. This is a gem in the rough of South Jersey. Extensive bottle selection.. tons of domestic and foreign brews. Discount carts, and a newly installed single 12oz bottle section which is great for sampling. Founders, DFH, Southern Tier, Cantillion, etc. Picked up a keg of Golden Monkey here... worse idea ever. haha
Selection has gotten better over the years. Some good brews there now.

Not sure how this place isn’t in the system already. Wow talk about big, clean and well organized. This pace looks like it used to a bowling alley or perhaps a grocery store with an odd shaped roof. All the imports were in one very long aisle and organized by country and all breweries from a country were very neatly grouped together. A second aisle housed all American craft brews broken down into a large bottle and six pack section. To give you an idea of what beers they carry, Brewdog(first time I have seen this in NJ), Allagash Black(haven’t seen this one around in months), Southern Tier Blackwater series including Pumking(sold out everywhere I have checked yet they had at least four cases), Cantillon(largest selection I have seen in awhile), Stone 12th(sold out everywhere by me), Founders including a sixtel of Breakfast Stout, Atlantic Brewing, Elysian, Eel River, Jolly Pumpkin just to name a few. If your in the area check this place and then you can send me a messa
Beer selection is nice, but a disappointment compared to the Canals on 541. Don’t get me wrong, this place is great! My recommendation: drive a little further north. It’s next to the Wal-mart. You’ll be glad you did.
Great, great store in South Jersey. The selection is immense and they really push seasonals and a discount section. Bottles are divided into domestic, foreign, seasonal, and chilled. Lots of Stone, Southern Tier, Founders, Weyerbacher, Unibroue, Abbay Du Rocs, Nogne, the list goes on. Also has a great selection of pony kegs. Prices are rock bottom. I’ve seen Pumking here for $7 where anywhere else you can’t find it for under $10. Aside from seasonals, this store doesn’t get a lot of new rotations into their shelves, but there simply so much on the shelves that there is more than enough obscurities and old stand bys to keep you satisfied.
I was amazed at the selection the first time I went here. There is a sign outside that says "Rare Beers" and they are not lying. There is a wonderful side area full of exotic imports and micros. I’m going broke trying so many wonderful brews. I buy a lot of Dogfish Head (try the 120 minute) and Plank (highly recommend this German brewer if you can find it), and this is among the only places I’ve ever seen some of these.
This is the best place to buy micro beer in central jersey. They have just about every beer the distributor allows them to buy. They have massive quantities as well. I remember buying Double Bastard almost year round over here. Cool place worth visiting if you are ever in the area. Very organized micro section as well. Much better than any other Canal’s I have been to.
