Large place with a ton of beers, some if which are not found anywhere else. Selection of special stuff is heavy on locals and regionals. Live music was playing when I was there. The cooling strip running the length of the bar is an interesting gimmick I only tried the fries, but they didnít taste like potatos. Hmmmm...
Visited November 2011. One-off visits obviously only offer a snapshot of a place, but I was reasonably impressed during mine. The beer selection was wide and the cask ale on offer was served in good condition. The waitress was friendly and served up a burger and fries of decent quality. Prices werenít bad with as I took advantage of the midweek deal on Virginian beers. Worth a visit.
Simply put there is no greater selection of beer in the city. Additionally they have an on/off license, so you can get any of those lovely bottles to go. Or...if you have a growler (or want to purchase one) you can get taps to go as well. Theyíre great about letting you try it first (on tap), and the bar staff are all trained to know the difference between an ale and lager and know what is rare. (Speaking of rare - ask about the back stock to see if they have anything hanging out in the íway backí of the fridge that you can buy.) Overall the food is a fair stretch better than bar food - but typically not gourmet (except for the mussels).
I actually prefer the West End location (but that may be a personal bias since Iíve spent a lot more time at that one). This one still gets the same level of quality beers, but it just isnít quite as well set-up or as much fun to visit. Still, a really solid place though.
Strong beer selection, the menu is an encyclopedia. Interesting spot since downtown Richmond is pretty quiet after 6pm, but a good place to grab a pint glass and drink a unique beer.

Usually very good although itís showing its age. A little irked that on recent visits they have had virtually no IPA selection on tap. Actually havenít been back recently because of this. Used to go at least once a week.
Food always decent. Seasoned servers and bartenders knowledgeable but not newbies (have it on authority that they have to go to classes to improve knowledge, though).
