Right across from my hotel in DC. Pretty crowded with patrons that didn’t seem to be there for the beer. Guys next to me had never seen a flight before. Bartenders were terrible. But the beer was very reasonably price, just not that great. Not bad though.
I want to drink the beer here like I want to eat the food; if I’m starving I guess I will. Giant, corporate, and souless. Beer is a decoration for this place rather than the main point. Got all 8 available in a flight. Advantage, big flight pours. Unfortunately, they are all basically the same beer. Seems like same base malts with a little difference to make it the style. I wasn’t looking to come here, I just happened to be walking by with nothing better to do. Don’t seek out unless you are ticking.
Not the very best venue. Not the very best beers. Not the very best food. So who am I kidding? I don’t know places like that. This place is way up towards that though. Super food. Super service. Damn decent beers. Go there. Try the crab appetizer.
Visited on Super Bowl Sunday, so it was packed, but we were able to get a booth. Disappointing flight, in that we were confined to their four "flagship" beers, all of which were rather mediocre, and an additional option from their special list. Food was terrific, service was abrupt, but I got out of there at a reasonable price. Glad I went, but won’t go out of my way to go back.
Visited on a busy Friday afternoon and evening in October 2016. Even though the place is a very large sports bar, it was difficult to find a place, so I stood at the bar. The selection was reasonable in quantity - 10 taps of own produce plus some other US bottles - and in quality, although I did not taste any top notch beers here. The staff were rather rude and not very eager to talk about the beer they sold. Not very cheap, just normal, given the location n downtown DC. Did not try the food. Might be back again to taste some more of their beers, but I hope that the service will be better.
I had been to the Shirlington location recently, decided to hit downtown. Pretty large and upscale yuppy place, copper surfaced bar was interesting. Very modern brewpub in terms of decor. They had 4 core beers and six seasonals on tap when I was there. Unfortunately the only flight they offer is the four cores plus your choice of one seasonal, and they don’t offer taster sizes individually. The bardender gave me two free tastes of the two I wanted to try even though I said I would pay for a full pour of one of them. I ended up tipping $5 and moving on to the next place after that. Both of the beers I sampled were pretty solid, IMO
A large sportsbar, brewpub and restaurant. European tourists watching soccer (Germany vs Slovakia) The flight was not big glasses, but 4 oz. Perfect for me! Beers ranging from average to pretty good. Friendly service and well worth seeking out when you are downtown. (Visited June 26th 2016)
Looks like a quite average American sportsbar with people watching sports and eating greasy food. But I got a flight of 5 homebrews, in big glasses, for only $8 (maybe because it was happy hour?.) That was a welcome surprise. Pretty good beer too!
A wide variety of beers on tap. I highly recommend ordering a flight. The sample glasses are about 7 ounces! Good location downtown. The food was very good. It was loud with lots of sports playing on TV,but I enjoyed my visit.
Came in here in the evening. Half priced pints and cheap food during happy hour. Staff was friendly and food was adequate. Saw marines get into a fight when there was a guy doing the whole stole valor routine. Dinner, drinks, and a show.
