Small dedicated parking right in front. Worn small old pick-up store. Place was hot during my visit; not ideal conditions for the beer. No Hoof on tap during my visit. Bottle/can selection during my visit was pretty limited and nothing I was interested in having on tap. This place was small, but also the shelves were not full and were under utilized. Pricing for this place was average. The black guy and old lady working were not too interested in splitting six-packs. The lady when I asked her to split up a six-pack said she would not split it up, then she proceeds to ring up the six-pack, and had to break it to her I was not interested in the six-pack. After convincing the black guy to split up a six-pack, I purchased one can. If you lived right down the road and I had extra time, I might come by on occasion, but there is no reason to come by otherwise. This is not a beer destination in Cincinnati. This is not comparable to the other Cappy’s.

This is the smaller version of Loveland, and while the selection is much smaller, I still managed to buy a ton of beer. Owner and other person working there are above and beyond friendly and helpful, offering samples from the taps and great conversation. Plenty to choose from on tap and they are the only ones who carry Hoof Hearted taps in Cinci.

Visited after work on a Monday. Located just off Montgomery near the Xavier campus, I found street parking nearby though seemed this could be an issue. Building is very much an old school neighborhood liquor store with no frills. Beer is everywhere though, to the left, straight ahead, to the right, on draft on the wall behind the register! Service was friendly, offering tastes of the draft beer. Plenty of locals and singles to be had. Certainly different than the Cappy’s in Loveland, though certainly also worth checking out.

76 = *** (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Visited earlier in the day, around 9:30 AM. Small parking lot, but seemed sufficient. It kind of looks like an old Liquor Store from the outside, which I learned that it used to be one, so that makes perfect sense. Inside looks much nicer. Lots of craft beer all over the place. That’s pretty much all they carry. They do have some Macro stuff, but it makes up just a small portion of their offerings. When the guy behind the counter (maybe the owner) saw I was wearing a Jackie-Os shirt, we immediately started talking beer. Great service! I enjoyed my experience here, and will definitely be back. It’s just a minute or so from Listermann, which I always visit when in Cincy, so it will also be a convenient stop with that.

Cappy’s Norwood is their new location in the old Donna’s Carryout liquor store, just north of Xavier’s campus in Norwood, at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Cleneay. There’s not much to the place, which is small, but it’s mostly devoted to beer. Macros, of course, but a growing selection of large format and single crafts. There’s always some special stuff that’s hard to get elsewhere, too, like Hoof Hearted cans. They’re in the process of adding a 16-tap growler fill station. They’ve been open a few months but the selection is consistently improving. Good, friendly service, but Natalie is probably the only beer expert on staff. So much more convenient for me than the Loveland location, so I’ll be back a lot.
