Pretty typical Spanish bar setting; a few seats at the bar and a lot of tables with a big window in the front that provides a nice view out onto the plaza. Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. Although the Scottish and Danish selection is dominated by BrewDog and Mikeller and their German repetoire wasn’t too good the selection overall is excellent with a lot of beers from Spain (which is the main reason why I came here). They had some tapas on menu but weren’t available when I tried to ordered some. Fair prices but not cheap. Certainly a can’t miss place for beer lovers visiting Malaga.
Nice craft beer bar, about 8 taps although only a couple of Spanish beers. Bottle selection was impressive though unclear which ones were actually available for purchase (and no prices on bottles). Good music and beers I had on draft both good
I'm agree with belangerm. I know the place very well and I encourage fortly to everybody to ask for printed invoice. Otherwise the younger waiter, the dirty waiter, will overcharge the bill with 50 cts. added per glass.
Especially if it is tourists or middle-aged people in general.
10 taps with high quality beers from around the globe. Only one local. Bottle selection is goddamn amazing. Lots and lots of spanish and international brews. Prices are decent and the guy behind the counter knew what he was talking about
The beer selection is awesome! My girlfriend and I went there twice and we had a great imperial porter last week, and an outstanding imperial stout from Norway yesterday. If I finished my comment here, I’d give 7 stars out of 5 to this place!
However, the waiter (same waiter on our two visits) tried to charge us an extra 0,50 € per beer EACH time we went to Arte&Sana. On our first visit, a 7 € pint "suddenly" cost 7,50 € when it was time to pay the bill. We thought it was a mistake, so we didn’t make any fuss for a few pennies... but on our second visit, the same waiter tried to charge us 22,50 € for 3 pints at 7 € each! My girlfriend, who speaks Spanish fluently, told him politely that 3 x 7 equals 21, not 22,50... and by magic, our bill was instantly reduced to the 21 € it should have cost from the very beginning. Weird, huh?
If you add to these "mistakes" the fact that no printed invoice was given, it’s hard not to think that the waiter tried to take advantage of the fact that we were tourists!
We visited two other craft beer bars in Málaga in the past weeks ("La Madriguera" and "Central Beers")... and in these places, we received an invoice on which the price of each and every beer was clearly printed and, of course, matched exactly the price listed on the board (or on the TVs for "Central Beers").
So... My conclusion? Arte&Sana has the greatest beer in town, but without any doubt the worst service. Having the feeling of being robbed because you’re a tourist is a total turn off for me, so I won’t go there again. If you look like a tourist and you decide to walk into this bar, just be sure that the price you pay is the price you should have paid...!
