Nice place with very friendly staff. Went there on a Mon night and the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to provide samples and entertain your beer geekness. Also went on an early Sat night and no problem getting a table. Being primarily vegetarian there was little offerings, all I want is a veggie burger! But the food that I had was good. The quality of beer on tap is excellent ( I think Delirium Tremons is much better on tap) and they take proper glassware to the next level by having each beer in the brewery’s glass with the brewers label. I assume the bottle selection will get more extensive with time. I am glad there is now a Belgian bar in Denver.
Went here on the urging of the Lost Highway staff who apparently also work here sometime. Hit the staff in a good mood taking Primus requests and heard lots of cool Primus related stories which was fun. Probably about half the taps were Belgian, the rest Belgian type/sours from the US. I got here at 1030PM on a Saturday which was last call though the nice staff let me order a Funkwerks. A good looking surprisingly big space.
Visited for the Pliny The Younger tapping. Obviously, had a good time. Well run event. Excellent selection of Belgian beers. Prices decent, perhaps a bit high. Service was excellent. Food was very good. If you like Belgian beers, this is the place for you.
My best discovery in Denver. A great selection of beers both on tap and a large bottled selection. Heavily Belgian influenced. Worth a visit for the female rugby loving bartender. Excellent service. The bar was fairly quiet when I visited early in the day.
Decent sized bar and restaurant. They had trivia going during the visit (seemed to be wrapping up). Things were fairly quiet but it was late and a Wednesday night, so understandable. Tap list is dominated by Belgian beer, but a pretty respectable number of American micros on tap. Prices are pretty high, unfortunately. I ordered the house beer, and it was alright, but the tab came back at nearly $10! Service is good and a cool atmosphere, but a little spendy for me.
Stopped by for the Bruery Breakfast during GABF. The non Bruery tap list looked pretty good, but Belgian import heavy. Food was good, and service was decent too. A bit out of the way of your usual downtown beer bars. Not bad.
Another rateable place on Colfax which is an interesting part of town. It’s a main drag of sorts for the bums but it also has some respectable businesses on it. Cheeky Monk is about the only good beer spot on this strip but eventually Lost Highway Brewing will be opening right next door. Not sure where they’re brewing currently since we had several of their beers on tap at Cheeky Monk. On the first visit womencanstail refused to drink a good beer and ordered the house beer for $10 and it was an overly sweet tripel that no one enjoyed. The wit from Lost Highway turned out to be alright. They also had some St Bernardus 12 and a few other good beers flowing that night. We didn’t eat.
The second stop was after the second session of GABF on Saturday and the place was packed with drunk people and the servers were clearly not enjoying themselves. There was one fat drunk beer nerd sitting next to me that was angering the server intentionally. His girlfriend could barely stand. Chinoskillzian got up to use the bathroom she took his seat. I asked her to give the seat back and she obliged but tried to say something and made no sense. She was nice enough about it but it was obvious that she did not need to be drinking anymore. I ordered a burger with some kind of feta and caramelized onions on it. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium, which is perfect for me. The service was nice but very slow. If it didn’t take forever to get my check I would have tipped well.
Meh, the tap selection here is Belgian (surprise) and quite thoughtful, though nothing was particularly out of the ordinary. There were a handful of local Belgian-inspired beers available, and the bottle list included a few more. I was here for one beer and left, so I cannot comment on the food.
