I searched high and low for the Chinggis Beer Hall but, alas, it is no more. I have this on the good authority of no less than the Mongolian Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism! There’s a rather noisy pub in the same location (Jamyan Street) but I wouldn’t recommend it. (Visited 17 September 2013).

Very central location, close to MB Beer Plus and Sukhbaatar Square. Lots of foreigners hanging out here. The Chinggis beers are very nice. Their Mongolian food isn’t great, but the cuisine is somewhat limited to begin with. They have some outside seating for the warm weather. Service is fine. Probably the top stop in UB, though. On Fridays they pour the Chinggis Unfiltered.

They don’t brew on premises here, but the beers taste better at this location than anywhere in town. Here they even serve an unfiltered beer every Friday, which the original Chinggis Club brewpub in the north part of town does not even have! The original Chinggis Club might have more history but it’s quite a gloomy place. This place is lively, bright, cheerful, with better beer in a better location. They even have a summer patio, which is shady and overlooking a few of UB’s fun buildings like the pink neoclassical theater. Cheerful service. An expat hangout, and understandably so with the tasty house brews and decent Mongolian pub grub.
