Yet another convenience store conversion. Patio and a small bar are nice additions. Very crowded but local crowd that is very nice. Impressive tap and bottle list, although prices are a bit on the higher side. Service shines with beer geeks manning the till and taps. They really know their stuff and aren’t afraid to say what they feel. Local snacks and food trucks out front. I liked it and will be back.

Basic setup of tables, chairs and a cheap looking bar. It feels like I’ve just stepped into a mini-mart or something. Oh, that’s not a negative connotation by any means...I freakin’ loved this place. Chuck’s Hop Shop rocks. Ridiculous amount of bottles stocked up in fridges lining the walls plus an extensive tap selection to choose from. There’s food trucks dishing out excellent grub outside. Family and dog friendly. Fill growlers here. Yes!

Great tap selection with 38 on tap. Stopped here right after a bunch of IIPAs were tapped so I was in heaven. Not served in proper glassware though, at least not to my liking. Bottle selection is solid, though prices are slightly higher than elsewhere. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

(Visited 09/2013): Chuck’s is located in the north part of Ballard on the corner of NW 85th and 8th. There is a small parking lot in front of the building.

After passing a small patio in front, the interior opens to a convenience store style layout with shelves along the right and perimeter, including some coolers toward the rear. There is a small walk up bar in the back left corner, with a digital board above the bar listing what is on tap. Yellow walls, and a painted logo with the words "Land of a Thousand Beers".

As for the beers, there are exactly 38 on draught, including breweries like Bakwoods, Elysian, Odin and Fort George. Growlers are available for draught beer. The bottled selection amounts to hundreds, including many west coast breweries like Bruery, Lost Abbey, Elysian, Pike and Almanac. Lots of singles and imports as well.

Service on a relatively slow weekend afternoon was good both at the bar and while I was shopping. These guys definitely know their beer.

I did not have any food on my visit.

Overall this is a solid beer store to visit in the Seattle area, and the option of enjoying a pint before, during or after shopping is a great bonus.

Not too far from Naked City and other Seattle essentials, so get here. To me, this was a better experience than even Bottleworks. A complete experience with large spaces, kind of a cafeteria in the middle where you can dig into the interesting tap selection and tons of fridges surrounding you. I’m not convinced there can really be over 1000 bottles in there, but there sure are many and they’re well kept, easy to browse throughé I did not interact much with the staff nor did I eat, but the atmosphere herein was most pleasant and relaxed. A bit out of the way if you are not in the neighborhood, but so can other beer stores in Seattle be and combining with Naked City makes a lot of sense, especially for those with a car which should find a spot closeby.

A cool convenience store with a has station feel but great vibe. A nice patio outside. Service was a bit slow but we basically arrived at last call. About 40 taps and a real strong bottle selection. Limited samplers available. Food trucks seem do stop by often and I’ll never complain about a 6 buck sampler. Quite a spot!

Evidence that you don’t need an amazing structure to make a great business. This is a little beer mini-mecca that’s been carved out of a crummy old convenience store. They appear to have done this by sheer force of will. It’s a great bottle shop, and they always have a great tap list. They even have food! You walk in and the front has a few tables, some wine displays merched out, and an aisle or two of packaged foods for sale. It still has that convenience store feel, at least for a few square feet--racks of candy bars, and so on. But past that is a medium-sized seating area with a dozen or so tables and about 700-800 bottles in coolers and on shelves. They get a solid cross-section of West Coast (the emphasis), other domestics, and imports. They get their fair share of special releases both in bottle and on tap. The staff are really nice, and the prices are solid enough. There’s usually a food truck parked outside, and the place gets really busy. If you like good beer, this place will eventually be a must-stop for you. Sooner or later, either curiosity or something good in stock nowhere else has to bring every beer lover here. It’s not the first stop for out of town visitors, but they’re very good at what they do, and they won’t let you down.

A really nice hybrid bottle shop/cafe. Nice outdoor seating despite its location on a busy street. Really nice selection of taps and better selection of bottles.

This spot was nice. Lots of bottles for there or takeaway, decent tap list but prices seemed high. They have daily food trucks outside and I took up the biscuit truck quite well. I’d come here again but they are pretty far north of seattle.
