Don’t frequent this place as much anymore because of the Blue Monk opening which has a far superior selection of beer IMO, but Coles still has a good American selection if that’s what you’re into. Food is good. Gets way too crowded in there at night, with yuppies. Not my kind of place to just hang out in. Don’t always use proper glassware either. Some of the prices can be high on the beer, so you may want to ask how much it is before getting it with a 9 dollar glass of beer.
Nice old bar that apparently used to be a car show room. The bar tenders are fairly expedient and kindly, but not particularly knowledgeable about what they’re serving. What they’re serving is great - many taps of excellent excellent beer. The best part is a flight of 4 4oz’ers for $6. Score.
Very good beer selection and large food menu with many daily specials make this one of the destinations for craft beer enthusiasts (the other being Blue Monk). Often have special cask nights (Ballast Point) with rare offerings.

The best beer bar in Buffalo. Hands down. Undoubtedly, you will be pleasantly surprised with both the tap and bottle selection. Its extensive, and Coles has stuff you simply cannot get by visiting other beer stores and bars in the area. Mike the owner is a friendly guy who is really into beer, and it shows. food aint bad either. A must stop if in the area.
Cool little place thjat has not tunred into the typical college place. Beer selection is awesome and I gave the food a 9! This is because of the Buff Calamari....its my recipe that i gave to a bartender at Brennans! A few months later i return to Buffalo and its on both of there menus! Give credit where is due....or at least a few free beers!
Great menue, my picky wife found several things to order. Pretty fair beer selection, but not as good as i epected. Ambience is pretty cool, you can watch the freak and college hotties walk down the street or sit back and watch the game one the TV food was very good, but I have 3 problems with this place 1. It’s in the city, 2. no parking, see 1. 3. service absolutly sucked, probably the worst service i have ever had anywhere.
The beer selection and food here are definitely fantastic. Service is very quick and friendly, if not the very knowledgable. Ambiance is okay, with some nice decor, however I’m not a fan of the college type crowd that you may find there. YMMV however.

I will rerate this at another time, as I was there my only time for the Barleywine Festival last weekend, and didn’t sample their food. But from what I saw I was very impressed, and hope to make it back downtown for dinner. Met Mike at the festival, and quite enjoyed the time he spent with us, trying the beers himself, getting acquainted, just discussing good beers. When you’re ready to open your franchise in Akron, Mike, you let me know!
Favorite bar ever...bartenders and servers are always friendly and helpful, selection of beer goes on and on and on...where else in Buffalo do you have to decide between Orval or Rochefort? Classic bar that has been there forever and will always be
Cole’s for me is where my love for craft beer started. always going there for dinner with the family when i was younger always keep me interested in the beer. then when i was able to drink it was game on. if you enjoy great food and a awesome American style beer selection look no further than coles
