I spent a week in Southfield on business and lodged in the hotel adjacent to this place. How convenient! This place feels as though it is a franchise, although as far as I know, it isn’t. The food and drink offerings were good enough to bring me back several evenings for dinner, although I’m not sure if that would have been the case had I not been next-door.
I was very happy to find this place as there are so few high quality beer places around detroit. CC is nicely decorated with the prominent feature(s) being the copper brew kettles and fermenters. Very Nice. Nice custom wooden bar with maybe 14 taps(?) and three firkens which is impressive since most places only have 1, if any. I had both their Devil’s Peak IPA on firken and Scotch ale which were both very good. Staff was freindly. Burger was good. Nice daily special of burger and 25 ounce beer for $12. Highly recommended.
Nice, well lit place. Very airy. Good food to go with a nice selection of beers. I usually serve growlers from here at my parties. When you call ahead for them, they are very accomodating and appreciative of the advance notice and show it in their service. Great place for lunch on a Saturday, a relaxing place in the middle of a hectic day.
Easy to find location next to hotel. Nice up scale location. Bar stools on right with table on left. Patio in the front. Good sample set. Freindly staff with good discusion with connect with brewer. had the calamari app which was good portion and better tahn average. Nice visit.
Great beer, excellent food and great service. The bartender-waiter talked to us about the beer and menu options. After we badmouthed pilsners a bit, he showed us a pilsner can taste good when he gave us a sample of his pils brew. A bit pricey for a microbrewery, which is the one thing holding me back from being a regular. Besides the steep price tag, it is a great place. Atmosphere is a bit dressy and less casual.
My feelings on this place are conflicted. It’s the closest brewery to where I live, so I’ve frequented it for awhile. Food is always good; never had bad food there. They’ve changed their menu a few times, so any "not as good" items often get removed, so they seem conscious of their food. My issue? They changed brewers. Last brewer had an awesome sour altbier--that’s changed. He used to do great seasonals we looked forward to (like the pumpkin, or the apple). Not anymore. Service is always very good here, and I love the cigar smell from the humidor they have onsite. However, recent visits show the place is getting a bit run down--I can’t believe they’d let ripped up booth seats stay around for so long.
Nicely decorated establishment. You can clearly see where the beer is brewed/stored. Staff were friendly and attentive. An average amount of beer on tap, I believe there were about seven. (two hand pulled) Went for lunch, and had a good burger, great fries!, and a 25oz. beer for $12. A good deal, will go back for lunch, and try a growler some day as well.
