Here is a pub with a genuine passion for beer and even before the craft beer wave Craft were doing it properly, offering choice and variety.
The extensive range in The Craft Beer Co. Brighton (the first of the chain to venture outside London) is updated regularly and the bar staff really know their stuff. Not sure what you want? Just ask and you’re sure to find something here you never knew you liked.
The drinks menu even offers tasting notes for each brew to guide your hand and we counted 10 pumps and about 12 taps so options are not limited in either camp. They also have a couple of fridges full of bottled beers with exotic names from far and wide.
Our choices from the Thornbridge Brewery were delicious. The Lumberg pale ale had just the right hit of hops with a pleasantly bold aftertaste. The Lord Marples ’classic British Bitter’ bitter was toasty and sweet.
BrewDog Brighton had just hosted a Thornbridge takeover showcasing exciting mango, jasmine and strawberry infused Pale Ales, but it was great to have a choice of traditional cask options here.
The warm and social atmosphere makes for a welcoming place to enjoy your new favourite pint with a solid character all its own among Brighton’s pubs. Copper-topped tables, swivel high stools and long benches are laid out in tight formation meaning the bar fits a surprising number of people into a pretty small space, yet works whether you’re a large group or a couple out for an intimate evening.
Feeling hungry we opted for burgers and were not disappointed. In a word they were ’fantastic’! The succulent chicken burger was one of the best we’ve ever had and the 8oz beef burger went down without touching the sides. Add in some perfectly cooked, hand-cut chips and our bellies were thoroughly satisfied for the night.
As we were leaving a chap on acoustic guitar was about to start a set and that capped off what we would term a friendly, buzzy place where you can explore your love of beer to your heart’s content, even if your liver may not thank you in the long run!
Very good beer line up. Lots of bottled beers in the fridge. Prises vary from cheap to expensive (or real expensive when it comes to some of their bottled beers) . 33% off for take away. They let me in while I was with my two daughters (9 and 5 yo)
We didn’t have a dinner there.
Amazing place! Nice crew! Top brewery beers including such a masterpieces like DOG E and PARADOX BOX.
Great food - real, tasty burgers.
Crew is happy to help u. You can have a taster of any beer u like. Nice interior decorations. Perfect place to be!🍻🍻🍻
Modern beer bar, close to centre of town. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Decent no. of taps, perhaps a bit too pale ale / IPA oriented on my visit. Didn’t look at the bottles too closely but seemed to be lots of them. Prices range from moderate to high. Generally worth a visit.
Visited August 2016 with beery friends. Last stop on the tour.. A bit walk from the station but easy to find. Nice selection of beers, served in good condition. Friendly, helpfull start. Would love if the Craft Co would introduce the possibility of serving in 1/3 pints glasses 😀 free WiFi, clean and cosy place.. worth visiting.
Finally, after years of trying, we have managed to get a beer in here. Since the old Cask pub and kitchen closed we have visited Brighton 3 times before and due to a combination of refurbishment, odd opening hours and private functions not once have we got in, but now on a quiet Easter Saturday afternoon we entered the hallowed ground. There is a pleasant, laid back vibe, plenty of seating and terrific bar staff, willing to help with your choices. The beer range is big, as you would expect, with plenty of variety. Glad we made it this time and may have more luck in the future.
Visited on a Saturday evening in November 2015. A nice CBC, quite a small place with seating in small rooms around the bar and an upstairs area. Managed to get a table as it was fairly busy this was a good achievement. Great range of beer on as you’d expect from a CBC venue. Ilkley featured on the hand pulls. Could do with keeping those with beer on as quite a few turned around but still a healthy sign. Like the place and would definitely pop in if in the area.
