I am a bit of a homer on this one but everytime I go in there you get the feeling of a local pub every one knows each other and is very friendly. During the Summer months they throw festivals, such as the crawfish boil and wing fest. They have bands playing in the Beer garden Patio stage often. There are games that can be played in the patio area. Food is great every pizza I have ever gotten there is amazing, and I do not even have to mention the Beer its great. I love the Amber, Crooked Tree is good, the Coffe beer was great, and I like to mix thier black and raspberry for a nice half and half pint. They offer a punch card for $.50 beers great value. Check this place out in the summer months when ever possible.
Drinking fresh beer at the Dark Horse brewpub was an amazing experience. The staff was fast and friendly, the food was delicious and inexpensive, and the atmosphere was truly unique. It’s not every day that you can drink world-class ales in a pub that has hundreds of ornate mugs decorating the walls and ceiling. If given the chance, I would certainly go back.
Went on a Friday in the early afternoon and really liked it. Quaint little bar with numerous Dark Horse taps, hundreds of locals’ mugs hanging on the wall, and one of the best beer line-ups from any brewery. Very nice and knowledgable bartender/staff person. I’m going to make a point of visiting this place whenever I get a chance.
Warning... This may be a bit of a homeristic review. I don’t live anywhere near here but this is my second favorite brewery in the world, so this equates to a beer mecca for me. I missed the bus here from RBSG as I just needed more sleep, but I scrapped my planned trip to Shorts just to make sure I made it here. The atmosphere is low-key and locals oriented. The place is not fancy, and is lined with odd pieces of decor all over the place. The ceiling and walls are lined with the mugs of mug club members. I noticed there were somewhere around 2400 of them. The food was a little disappointing, and I merely picked at it. The patrons seemed to be a combination of locals indulging in their mug club membership and fellow beer travelers like me. Gina the bartender was in charge of the bar and all of the tables, and worked really hard while still being very nice, and cute, and giving great service. They do offer tasters but are iffy about giving tasters of all of the smaller batches. The beer was excellent. There is a merchandise/homebrew store/skateboard shop across the parking lot which was closed, but they were happy to let me in to make purchases. They met my expectations and more, and be sure to heed the warning above when I tell you that you have to stop here.
I make it here about twice a year, but would go more often if I could and would certainly be a regular if I lived there! I couldn’t stop taking pictures of this place the first time I went. I love the hand made beer mugs that decorate the entire ceiling. Fantastic food and beer, what more do need!
One of the highlights of a two-week road trip. Great people on both sides of the bar... down-to-earth and super friendly. Brewer Trent even gave me a quick tour of the brewhouse (thanks, man). I thought the atmosphere was just terrific, but it probably wouldn’t appeal to the mainstream. It’s kinda like if Satan built a diner/beer garden. My wife and I both loved our visit and we’re looking forward to next time as long as we can find someplace close to stay the night. I hear there’s a B&B within walking distance...
Visited 06/21/2013. Beer Trip 2013 stop #3.
The place is cool, the mugs are a nice touch. We Find plenty of great beers on the menu. The beer garden looks tight and the waitstaff is attentive. All around the best atmosphere and beer combo we have found yet. The store is sweet too. Will definitely be back. Dark Horse Please Expand your distribution into Iowa .... Please. Well on to Arcadia Ales in Battle Creek.
Awesome place. Very fun place to eat. Great beer and great food. Always have the best beers available there and to go. Everything is very reasonably priced. They have Mug Club mugs hanging all over the ceiling that really catch your eye when you walk in.
