Visited on a Tuesday evening. It was beautiful out so everyone was outside enjoying the marktplatz. The bar is really nice though, nice shiny copper interior, really pretty. Service was friendly by urban standards. Prices were fair, around 4 euros for a half liter. They had 5 of their own beers on tap, had the Weizen which was nice. Decent place.
Visited this brew-restaurant on 3.2.2014. Located in the centre of Darmstadt in a nice old building on the market place. They are serving German food (mediocre quality) and have 4-5 beers on tap brewed in their own golden brewhouse. Like the Helles and also the Weissbier is quite good. Restaurant is big, if you come only for a beer, sit on the nice small bar. Overall I recommend this place if you are visiting Darmstadt.
A brewpub in the center of the town square and in the heart of the Christmas market. The place was packed but had a great atmosphere. Choices were “helles” or “dunkel” and both were good. A nice stone bar and a drinking area out front.

Visited a very hot afternoon in Juli 2013, in the old part of town. Very popular this afternoon. Food was rich and tasty, traditional German fares. Good, attentative staff - some of the waiters even spoke a little English. Selection is narrow, as they only got three beers, all on tap or as take away in growlers. The beers was fresh albeit a bit on the safe side. However their hefeweizen is better than average. Reasonable prices, not too touristy.
Visited on a sunny Sunday, July ’09.
The Ratskeller is situated on a large platz with plenty of outside seating that we took advantage of.
The place was pretty busy outside but quietish inside as you’d expect on a warm summers day.
Took the tram into town (5/6 mins from HBF) but walked back (15-20 mins).
Service was fine. We didn’t have a main meal but had some OK snacks.
3 of their own beers on tap. The unfiltered pils was really good - perhaps the best I’ve had in Deutschland!
Well worth a visit if in town.
A nice brewpub in Darmstadt with two taps. Hop vines hang indoors and provide a garden feel even in the cold/cool late winter air. The service is good but not too attentive, and speaks a little English. The food is very good; I had the Goulash. Prices are reasonable, and you can take beer home in 1L or 2L swingtop growlers.
