The temple of beer creativity and tradition, lovely place. Kris the head brewer is a creative an passionate beer man, his wife and mother helped us after the tour with the beers on tap. He also let us taste a couple of his reserva beers (oerbier in Bordeaux barrels) directly from the barrel.. Amazing! The location is perfect, colorful and in the nature, there are also a couple of really good snacks availables. The best brewery in the world!

Beautiful location with ample room for visitors. I had imagined the place to be smaller but there is room to accommodate a lot of folks, comfortable seating with couches and low tables in the warehouse + a nice open wood fire inside to relax, sip a beer and read a book.
Four beers on draft, + reserva in bottle. Oerbier pâté to eat. Very decent prices, friendly service. Kris was there and lives up to the bit of mad scientist imagery akin to that of Dany of Fantôme, if I had to take the Wallonian counterpart as example. He looked interested to chat, sits with you, then gets up all the sudden and leaves to later come back, pause with long silence and resume talking. What an experience. Too bad none of the beers are low abv.
Visited November 2014, Saturday English tour. Nice little place in the countryside with a great, big yet cozy bar that caters to the locals. Brewmaster guided the tour with a tongue-in-cheek tone - thoroughly enjoyable and worth a detour (or the walk from Diksmude).
Easily the best brewery tour I’ve ever done, and I didn’t even go there for one. The entire brewery is done up like their label designs which is quite entertaining. Rowdy locals keep it interesting and Kris hangs around to serve beers and chat. Lovely fella. A few of the standards on tap and the amazing Oerbier Reserva in bottles when I visited. The mum runs the tour and tells filthy jokes in several different languages, shimmies up ladders and generally bounces around the whole place. What a dynamo. The brewery itself is amazing too - heaps of old gear is still in use, and obviously producing great beers. Still one of the most memorable places I’ve been in Belgium. About a 30 minute walk from Diksmuide train station. Shame it’s only open on weekends like all the other good places in this country.
The most fun and traditional (at the same time) brewery tour ever had. Kris and his wife are maybe the most passionate persons I haver met and the atmosphere that you can feel here is incredible!! The selection on tap and bottle is seasonal, but kris was in the right mood and opened for us and his brother some gems! If you come to Belgium and you don’t visit De Dolle you must be crazy!!!! Better to have a car...
That’s a brewery totally worth a visit. Very old school, one could even say a bit too old school. But I loved the ambiance and general feeling of the place; I really enjoy De Dolle beers, Kris is a fantastic and original host. The tasting room offers a lot of seasonal De Dolle beers on tap, and almost everything they brew in bottle. Loved it the first time. Loved it every time since.
