Stopped by recently and took the English tour, given by one of the owners/brewers, Kris. Quite entertaining and educational on how the current owners transitioned from college homebrewers to pros, along with the history of the original brewery owners. Nice tasting room with small snacks and a good selection of their beer, as well as original artwork by Kris. Nice stop!
Visited November 2014, Saturday English tour. Nice little place in the countryside with a great, big yet cozy bar that caters to the locals. Brewmaster guided the tour with a tongue-in-cheek tone - thoroughly enjoyable and worth a detour (or the walk from Diksmude).
Visited with friends the 31 January 2015. The brewery is on the main street of the village of Esen. As the beer the place is amazing. A really nice brewery with a great tap room. About the tap room this is really pleasant to drink a beer near to the fireplace with pieces of sausage or paté. I really recommend this place, this is clean and warm. About the beer there are 4 tap with Arabier and Oerbier and you can find also bottles of more special beer as Stille Nacht or Oerbier Reserva. The service is really friendly and you can meet also the brewer and discuss with him about beers! You can also buy some goodies from the brewery like shirt or posters! Really amazing, a muss to visit.
Visited a sunday afternoon for a tour and few drinks. The tour in english was done by the owner / brewer, and was highly informative and held in a funny, quite sacastic tone. The brewey itself was place in a old building, most of the equipment dates back to the 1st world war. In the barrelroom we where offered a smaples of 2 beers, Oerbier Reserva, and a high sour/acidic brew. The 5 € tour included 2 tapped beers in the taproom, Arabier or Oerbier. Some bottles avaiable aswell. Service doing the tour was good, a litlte unwilling or downright grumpy in the taproom. Crowd on the tour was a mixed group of tourists from Germany, France, US, etc. The taproom, and the nice beer garden behind it, had a good number of locals aswell. Fair / cheap prices.
Visited the brewery on a Sunday afternoon for the tour in English. Our tour guide was the master brewer himself Kris. He kick started the tour with his excellent and sarcastic humour. The brewery is like a living museum as things are done the old way here and Kris is proud about it. The tour was really informative & Kris explained various stages of brewing and in between the history of the brewery, the origins of the names of the beers etc:. The tour was followed by tasting of some excellent beers. They had the Oerbier & Arabier on tap. The tasting room also displays some art work of Kris. Do try the "pate" here. It blends in well with the beers. They almost had their whole range on bottle & was lucky enough to have a Stille Nacht Reserva 2010.. Will visit again for sure.. A really worth brewery visit.
Called in one Sunday and stumbled onto a tour of the brewery. The host was quite a character and a little eccentric. Great to delve inside and see how the brewery operates, also got to try a barrel-aged oerbier straight from the barrel although just 4 months old. The brewery bar has a nice feel and of course tasting De Dolle fresh from the taps is something else entirely! Great little brewery, a real gem.
That’s a brewery totally worth a visit. Very old school, one could even say a bit too old school. But I loved the ambiance and general feeling of the place; I really enjoy De Dolle beers, Kris is a fantastic and original host. The tasting room offers a lot of seasonal De Dolle beers on tap, and almost everything they brew in bottle. Loved it the first time. Loved it every time since.

Most certainly worth a visit. Very friendly people, great beers, good service, good prices. Kris sometimes seems a little grumpy, but he’s always willing to make a little chat!
