Just reopened, completely different from previous, just a normal bar with 8 standard drafts and average bottle list BUT the interior is lovely, really nicely decorated place, well kept and everything is lovely and new, so nice bar to have a drink in just not the extensive bottle list of old.
Came here at the start of our Friday evening. It’s a dark buzzing bar with a really nice atmosphere and a great selection of beers. The barman was very friendly and personable. Not afraid to make counter-suggestions when you’re ordering with excellent results. They’ve got some heavyweight rarities too. It’s somewhat removed from the centre but right next door to the place we were staying so perfect for us. Excellent joint.

My kind of bar, dark and decorated with beer memorabilia. Selection is probably the best in town, with plenty of rare Gueuzes and a focus on Struise Brouwers and De Molen. Prices for special beers are hefty, but not unlike other bars in town that offer rare vintages. We had met the owner earlier that day at the Struise Shop and he was kind to approach us again for a chat. I was with a group of people who are not the beer geek kind, so I was not able to spend as much time here as I’d like. Will definitely return here with a fat wallet.
Visited on Friday 17th October between 8 and 9.30pm.
The place has a cozy cafe/bar feel to it, wooden floors and fairly dimly lit, medium in size, walls adorned with breweriana.
I think the only thing that let this place down on the ambiance front for me was that it was completely dead. I think there were 3 other people there on a Friday evening at I time I thought would warrant many more, perhaps this was due to its relative ’out of town’ location, but it’s still only a 7/8 minute walk to the markt/burg.
The manager did say the place would get busy later, so perhaps pencil in a late evening visit if you want more atmosphere?!
Selection was solid, 150 or so bottles in a well laid out menu plus a few rareties, De Neve geuze for one, but you do of course pay for it.
They also stocked a good selection of De Molen in bottles plus they have a house beer, a quad that was pretty good.
Service was friendly and attentive and the guy knew the menu and was also helpful in finding somewhere for us to charge our phones.
In all well worth a trip out here for a few ticks.
Small dark bar a bit outside the center, close to Bierboom. Only two or three locals hanging out on my visit on a Saturday evening. Lots of lambics and Struise and other special beers. They have their own house brews as well, but the bartender wouldn’t let me buy one because he was not happy with how they had turned out. He gave me a free sample though, and also some cake. Nice place.
A bit from the city centre but very well worth a visit! Wide selection of beer specialties including a large variety of gueuze beers, Struise Brouwers collection and beers from brewery De Molen.
They’re on the brink of introducing their very own developed beer, first batch was made and to my opinion, it’s a great one!
