A crowded but spacious brewpub. I sat at the bar and had two flights. A flight is 4 x 10cl, one 10 cl water and a small bowl with peanuts for 10 Euro. Decent beers, some really good, as "De Prael / Jopen HIJSM 2 3/4" An excellent imperial stout. Service was top notch. A beer geek as me, taking notes, often leads to a beer chat and free tasters. The others hanging in the bar were all working at De Prael, but had the evening off. Varied pop/rock music played. And, you can pay by credid card. (Visited November 17th 2016)
Spacious and lively, often crowded, brown cafť in touristic center. Recommended for a visit if youíre in the area. Place is mostly ran by people recovering from psychological issues. A cool job to get them back on track and in the flow of daily social life. A great initiative! This place is typical Amsterdam I think, much more than most of the other bars listed on here, some of which could exist anywhere in the world. If you want to tick some beers and sniff some Amsterdam vibes this is a good low key place to spend some time. The beer is decent and the food is alright. So if youíre in the touristic area anyways, have lunch with some beers. Recommended.
Great ambiance with vintage decorations ranging from terrible kitsch to 50ies design. Very friendly service when I was there, and a nice selection of mostly their own beers on tap. Nice place to hop in and have a few beers if youíre in the neighbourhood.
Service can be a bit ístrangeí, and Iíve seen this often mentioned in other reviews. But come on, I think the whole idea of employing all these people in a normal commercial enterprise instead of having them glueing envelopes or something is nice, and though it somethis is slightly harder to communicate in the end you always get what you want in my experience.
The place is not too bad with a mix of modern industrial and tiles on the floor .. Pretty large in size .. Service is " funny " if there is a guy with long curly hairs .. The beer ? Well .. Just in the average being generous..
Visited during Carnivale Brettanomyces 2016 and on a regular Thursday. Quite large brewpub with simple, wooden interior, some armchairs or couches and a nice atmosphere, located in maybe the worst part of the city centre. Most of the eight taps are for their own beers, but guest taps can be seen sometimes apparently. Getting a tasting flight of four beers with some nuts is possible, although the beers can normally not be chosen by yourself (you may try to friendly ask though). Prices are quite high, especially if you consider the quality of the beer, but it is worth to support the idea behind the brewery.
I have to give totally arbitrary points, since I was there for the homebrewers festival during Carnivale Brettanomyces. Hung out at the Le Chat Rebelle and Bokkereyder stand. Got some free beers from the De Prael bartenders (keg with to much yeast or something). Good times.
Place next to the brewery. Quite big, which is nice. Beer selection is okay-ish, food is decent. Service is quite bad and sometimes rude. They tend to make lots of mistakes as well. Not really a good place actually.
Visited on a Thursday evening. Itís quite busy and not too stylish but they have good beers on tap. Stuff is a bit strange some are probably slightly mentally ill but itís nice to employ them but an old guy who served us seemed quite drunk and also his English was poor but who cares you just how the tap you want to drink. Itís nice to see the brewery behind the windows.
Although itís in the center of Amsterdam which is absolutely full of tourists it wasnít that crowded. Some nice brews available, not that many but tasty ones. Only cash accepted (at least at that time). A bit inattentive service.
