This is very much a pub, in contrast to the surge of bars popping up in Liverpool. I love pubs when they’re a welcoming, friendly vibe, but this one was a bit too old school - grumpy barman and lots of cliquey old men. In contrast, the woman serving was very friendly. The selection was great and included a number of local beers I didn’t see anywhere else in Liverpool. A focus on cask ale and served in good condition, albeit slightly cold. Only halves and pints here, but they have third pint glasses for when they have big beers on sale. I wasn’t made to feel very welcome here but it’s otherwise an OK place.
Great traditional pub clos to the Railway Stations in central Liverpool. Long and narrow but with enough space to get seated even on busy days. Good beer choices available, mostly cask but with the odd craft keg. Well worth a visit.
Classical pub with wooden interior. During my visit there was some kind of semi-private party going on, but I got served without problem. Seems to be visited mainly by locals. Good cask selection, had very interesting Plum Porter from Titanic. Worth visiting.
Cracking alehouse, not far from Lime Street station and the sort of pub that seems to be getting rare in this day and age. Basic one room pub with a raised seating area at the back, this place is all about the ale. My pints of Titanic Plum Porter were pure nectar, Camra types would be in seventh heaven. Had a chat with Dave the landlord and found him affable enough, as were most of the customers. Definitely a return for me, on my next visit to Liverpool
Traditional pub with a heavy light wooden design throughout, complimented by traditional wooden furniture. It’s not as well kept as perhaps other pubs of this ilk in the area, but that’s part of the charm of the place and it’s certainly no less of a place for it. There’s a good choice of real ales here and that’s a reason many come here, complimented by a keg option a few worthy bottles. Two of the hand pumps are at the side of the bar and are not immediately obvious. The bar area to the front gives way to a part partitioned seating area to the rear, but it’s all in the same large ceilinged roof.
