Fairly small, old style, about twenty taps with no list - "read them off the handles" is what I was told, which was kind of funny since most handles were hand-written in chalk and the handwriting was grade-school "C" level. Good bottle selection, including at least one of the Seasons bottles; did not ask how much as I wanted to keep my heart pumping. A few tables and a couch outside. Cool architecture.

Nice quaint little get away place. The pub had a great selection of beers and spirits. What were especially interesting were the two fellows behind the bar. I watched them smell each bottle and compare notes after each sniff like a couple of amateur sommeliers. I could tell loved their jobs.

In the centre, just off Stortingsgata. Not the best day to visit as it was Euro 2016 but civilised despite the tele-footie. There are not 200+ beer in bottle - nearer 100 but there are some corkers. Shame about the three high-scoring ratings below, which are amateur marketing bullshit and should be removed.

A nice pub with a good selection of craft beer, both on tap and in bottles. But, I didn’t find any new ticks this evening. Most beers available were "old classics" and beer easy available at the Vinmonopolet stores. Ok, I found som 75 cl bottles in the beer menu, but sadly I had no one to share with. Will for sure visit again when I’m in Oslo. Maybe I’m more lucky with the tap list next time? (Visited December 5th 2014)

In the last couple of years, Dr. Jekyll’s have moved on from being just an exceptionally good whisky bar to becoming an equally exceptional beer bar. The bar usually offers 5-6 good Norwegian craft beers on draught (Ægir, Nøgne Ø, HaandBryggeriet) and they even plan to add another tower with 5-10 beer taps. But it is their amazing 200+ bottled beer menu that really makes this pub one of the best in Oslo - they’ve got real Belgian sours (Geuze, Kriek) and abbey ales, plenty of US craft beer (Boulevard, Bruery, Westbrook) in addition to many Norwegian, Danish and British micros. You can spend a week here without exhausting the beer menu. And the bartenders are fairly knowledgable about their beer too so Dr Jekyll’s is a truly great bar for beer and whisky, centrally located in Oslo near Nationaltheatret. Last visited: 2014-02-22.
