This was a vibrant place that doesnít look too big from the outside but is actually decently sized. It was packed full at the time I was there. Excellent selection of beers with a lot of rare ones, and they were for the most part reasonably priced. I didnít buy any food but it looked pretty good. The employees were friendly and knew quite a lot about beer. Definitely a place that I will be coming back to.
Good beer store with bad prices. Lots of singles for sale, which is a definite bonus, but you pay top prices for this stuff. Definitely see a different selection than you do in Philly. The bar/restaurant looked good as well, but I was just passing through. Only bought a few things here based on prices.
Good draught and bottle shop in regent square. 15+ taps with average+ selection. Truly authentic chicago dogs and good pizza. Average bar food otherwise. Sports on TV but no sport audio. Can be loud. Average service. Website draft list never updated. ..... Draft Selection Rating : -Clueless-[AVERAGE]-positive-impressive ..... im giving them a high AVERAGE rating - average beers from average breweries. They never seem to blow me away with draught choices with this one notable exception - they always have 2 very fine Unibroue selections - very nice! ... I sometimes wish they had more diverse styles, at times there will be an over abundance of one particular style. The bottle selection is HUGE but there again - average. Very popular place and can get very crowded. Occasional local beers. Occasional hard to find draughts. Loft pub upstairs with TVs, mixed alcohol, and taps. ..... other ratings [+ to ++++] ..... veggie food ++ ..... physical bar ++ ..... seats ++ ...... restrooms +++ ..... crowd [more/less crowded] + very crowded usually ..... bourbon selection N/A ..... Note: average prices for craft beer establishment - which might be surprising if you frequent a "2 dollar coors light" type of place
As for the food side, way too popular (i.e., crowded) for me to patronize frequently, though that usually means theyíre doing something right. Gotta change the buns, though, maybe move to double-walled models, as no hot dog or sausage-based food should ever collapse and plunge through a soggy bottom within seconds of service. Nobodyís coming here for value, either.
The attached room-temp beer cave is really nice, though, very pleased with a large and broad selection that even had some semi-rares in addition to the locals. Prices are typical for urban PA -- too high, for sure, but a little easier to stomach if considered a premium for single bottles. For that very reason, Iíd probably hold my nose and visit semi-regularly if I lived in Pitt, given the dearth of similar options.
Stopped in to meet a trade partner, suggested by him. Really cool place with unique dogs and other food fare and a solid selection of beer on tap and in bottles. Good was good, got the Mac n cheese dog and service was friendly and helpful. Bottle area was solid but prices were a bit out of control. $40 for a small bottle of Older Viscosity? $13.50 for a single of Wulver? Give me a break. Was able to leave with Rodenbach Charactee Rogue so that was nice, but it wasnít cheap. Worth a stop in and since the prices are all over the place, some bottles arenít outrageous.
For a PA bottle shop, itís not bad. The place has two entrances: one that looks like a cozy pub, the other that looks like a diner. The bottle shop is in the back with a walk in fridge. Prices are kind of high til you realize they discount a dollar if you buy your own pick six. Selection is strong on PA and domestic craft, less so on Belgian or other Europeanís. (itís about as strong as you can get without stocking anything imported by Shelton Brothers.) so from a local perspective this selection is quite good, but I donít think of it as a destination place.
Itís a greasy spoon type of joint where you can get any kind of dog your in the mood for. Very family friendly, totally causal environment, oh yeah and I think they had about 400 bottles to choose from. When I was there you could even find Gratitude (at a fair premium) so I would say if your in their neck of the nape its worth a pop in!
