Visited on Sunday evening, 20/11/16 around 6pm after a 15 minute walk out from our centrally located Travelodge. Trad street corner boozer, carpeted and with a mix of bench, stool and chair seating. The place was pretty quiet on our visit, perhaps a dozen other patrons but they seemed friendly enough as were the staff on duty. A good percentage of beers on offer are from stillage in the room behind the bar, so no point studying the pump clips at the front too closely, these are just a small selection of whatís on offer ! Head to the back room where a large chalk board displays the days business, about 17 or so offerings on our visit ... a good half dozen plus from Wolf (maybe a regular thing ...felt like an unofficial brewery tap for them ... as opposed to the takeover Scopey alluded to?) plus other local offerings and a few Scottish beers to boot. The range of beers stylistically was rather pedestrian, lots of whelming goldes and bitters in evidence. The Wolf beers that I tried were all rather dull, the porter included. Overall a solid backstreet boozer but a couple of halfs on our crawl was enough ... just found the beers a little boring! A quick 3 or 4 minute hop lands you in the far superior Fat Cat Brewery Tap.

Itís to the north of the city centre. Maybe not worth the trek on its own merit but itís a good 5 minute walk from the Fat Cat Brewery Tap. Scopeyís review is pretty spot on in that itís very, very ílocalí but friendly enough. The tartan carpet isnít quite dark enough to hide all its secrets! Anyway on to the beer. They have íup toí 32 cask ales at once but on my visit I counted 18-20 which is impressive enough. They had three very reduced beers (£2-2.50 per pint)... fearing the worst, I opted for a Lees beer which although not great was certainly in fine condition. They do tend to carry local breweries such as Wolf (a bit of a bÍte noire for me) so the selection seems quantity over quality. Still, like I said, decent enough and worth a look.

We swung past the Duke of Wellington via the nearby Fat Cat Brewery Tap. It is a corner pub located in a residential area to the north of Norwich city centre. In terms of decor the inside is like stepping back in time to 70s/80sÖ. Has a very (perhaps overly so) local feel to it and we definitely felt like outsiders on a Friday evening. They offer just over 20 cask ales on hand pull and gravity, as well as a couple of kegs of things like Goose Island IPA. Unfortunately for us they were having a wolf brewery tap takeover, which is not quite to my tastes. We ended up just staying for a half and moving on to the Plasterers ArmísÖÖ

Good pub. Nice range of cask ales. Carpets. Real fire. Friendly barmaid. Pretty good value. Decent music. Worth a visit if you have at least one full day in Norwich.

Reminds me of the Carlton Arms in Cambridge. Big pub, a little out of town but walkable; nicely appointed, spacious, and comfortable; good selection of beers, continually changing; and occasional festivals. Nice friendly staff, welcoming, and with a fun sense of humour too. Definitely a top tip for anyone interested in the Norwich scene.

A good pub worth the detour. Plenty of choice from handpumps and stillage in the cold room which is visible from the bar. Deservedly has plenty of loyal regulars even mid afternoon on a week day.

Another great pub to pop in when in Norwich ... Located in the north outskirts of the town the duke has a notable selection both on tap and from the cask in the cellar ... If I donít remember wrong the 2 barmaids were particularly good looking ..

Not a bad pub on the outskirts of Norwich. Good selection of local and national ales, the typical draught line-up and a selection of bottles. Roomy, plenty of seating and a fairly spacious garden. Not quite on par with the Fat Cat but it gets the job done!
